A didn't like the black roof - I think I saw a nasty looking A610 once pimped up with one but on this car it looks cool.

My advice is to get the car roadworthy asap. Everything else will be a lot easier once you know you have a car that is driving.

I hope that we start to see the end of GTAs being scrapped or blinged up.

Cheers! Here goes -

Nice one! 8)

I've always really been a fan of standard finish where possible, and this is still my intention. The black roof will be staying as AFAIK it's original and it does seem to suit the car. Wheels will be stripped and repainted silver again, the only non-standard kit will probably be a stereo head unit.

The reason

A610beaver wrote:21 views and no comments. No wonder so many GTAs are being scrapped with that kind of motivation.

Well done and here's to another of these fantastic cars being great again.

It sounds like a not too difficult restoration - here's hoping so.

All the best!! :D

The reason they get broken is economics not because nobody has replied to apost yet  I can certainly advise on the costs of putting 2 gta's back on the road as I have, resurected 2 and I can totally understand why someone would not do it as you will certainly not make a profit.

Hi fantastic that you have found your car again there will.always be someone who can offer you advice locate parts old or new we even have a paint specialist who can do you a great deal on a respray. Good luck with restoration it'll be worth it once its done as I am now finding out!

Ill look forward to hearing about progress made and seeing the car in the flesh

Was just thinking I hadn't ever seen this A610 (especially as it was parked at Th'ouse at Top in Kelsall, just by where my gran used to live) and low and behold its for sale on pistonheads..

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2947129.htm

Wonder how long it will take for this one to disappear on a ferry over to France as I doubt there will be many English takers at that price.

We have all moved on, my blue car now lives in portsmouth, the two yellow cars from Chester (yes, he had two! An Atmo and a Turbo) now live in Australia, the red Wrexham car was stolen and written off, and the red one from the Wirral now lives in yorkshire.

Here are two pics of your car that I took when we had a meeting near Oulton park.

That's bizarre isn't it? To be honest I think that will sell even at that price, it's got a lovely mileage on it and the in the best colour  With only about 40 left in the UK and one coming up for sale every 6-12 months, if you want one your gonna have to pay for it.

The problem is Mr Beaver most GTA's if unloved and are left outside are like this underneath:

With all the will in the world they just are not economically viable. If they are solid underneath then fix it, paint it and enjoy.

We all know Martin that the best colour for a 610 is yellow

I do agree that it is worth every penny to someone who wants a decent one. Just ain't that many of us out there! Still very cheap when you look at the equivilent Esprit's etc which in my opinion ain't as good. Hope whoever does buy it is both English and in the club :D

I've never seen one of our cars get so bad. The comment about the lack of posts was a joke by the way - :D

I guess I've been lucky in that all the cars I've had have been pretty sound. I don't think I would have bid on my current A610 sight unseen if someone would have posted these pictures before.

Re the £14500 A610 - that looks abut the price I would expect a reasonable A610 should be. And yes, it will probably be heading towards France in the near future.

I was lucky.....

Postby si21 » Thu Jun 23, 2011 4:50 pm

My Atmo was solid undeneath, but its still cost me double the value of the cars possible value.

With a 610 you spend a couple of grand in most cases and put them back into tip top and the value goes up according to condition, it doesn't work that way with a GTA. I did my two for the love and for wanting to own my dream car, a Le Mans.

I am sorry of all the Alpines the 610 is my least favourite; the 3ltr turbo charged engine part is the best bit a bout a 610 otherwise its just an overweight GTA styled for the American market, for me it lost a lot of the bodyworks subtleties of the GTA and I can't abide useless pop up head lights, more trouble than they are worth on any car not to mention an aerodynamic aid    mind you that's a good thing at night because the lights are rubbish on any of the Renaults I've driven

I did not rebuild my GTA's to make a profit tho' I did them to keep so I will enjoy the value I have invested into them. I will not even start to tell you what it cost to build a Le Mans replica with genuine panels as it's still not finished yet and wont be until I've got a modded 610 lump or better at the fat end

British Le Mans has a black roof as factory, as does Mr Dells 610 looks good to me 8) Often carried out to a GTA to mimick the Le Mans and a cheap fix due to problems in the fibreglass roof or the paint.

A very large number of cars are like this, some worse than others, problems with corrosion on the subframe and rear bottom wishbones are all fixable, however; it all gets a lot more expensive when the metal contained in the bodywork are wrotten. Areas such as door pillars, the front crossmember that the rack bolts to, reinforcing to the side sills and front and rear suspention turret mounts. All this metal is encapsulated in fibreglass, so unless you know someone in the game who can do a good job for not a lot of money, or you can do the work yourself and have the time to dedicate, then this is when they start to become unviable :( Like I said mines all structually sound in all of the above repspects but its still cost me double the value of the car and I did nearly all the work myself or with help from members of this club

That's not to say none of the above can't be fixed, so not wishing to put anyone off restoring car, just the opposite; you just need to restore the right car. It is very easy to start on a car and then realise that you have spent a lot of money and realise that the car has more serious expensive problems elsewhere. Once you have started it's very difficult to stop, Iv'e started so I'll finish and this end up costing you a lot of money, That said some of the cars need only a little spent on them to get them running.

Its been a real struggle for me with My Atmo, but thanks to people in this club who overlooked my PhyscoticTendancies when things went wrong    They kept me going and I actually feel like \I have achieved somthing now:P allthough I just wanted to cut it up into tiny little pieces with frustration at the time

si21 .....looking for more patients :!:
