I
have been advised that this coversion has been carried out several times in France with the result being 210 bhp
I hope this is correct otherwise ill be really peeved to have done all that work for an extra 12bhp.
Ill stand corrected if anyone can prove and give me a reasonable explanation why not,......preferably before i waste my time doing the conversion. That said i am really wanting to supercharge the engine as apposed to turbocharging....well one day when i am solvent again.

I am not one for bull shite power figures either, in fact I dont care whether an engine produces 150 bhp or 450bhp on the rollers just as long as it performs on the road. Rollers figures are only a guide and only useful when figures are compared on the same rolling road.
Whilst I may not understand and never claim to understand the very technical details or most importantly pretend to understand between my father and myself, mainly my father
(he is fully qualified old school engineer, now retired); we have built several unsuccessful modified road engines.
I wish I knew a fraction of what he has forgotten about engineering, engine buiilding (motorbike race engines) over the years
But you know what, I am learning and doing stuff for myself on limited funds. Trust me If I did not have limited funds at the moment I would not even be considering messing around with bolt on mods to a standard engine, prior to owning Renaults all of my cars had been powered by home built modified engines. Probaly the best engine was not an outright power engine but a high torque 2 litre for my Opal Manta 1.8 s all comp raito's pistons calulated and pistons machined by my father not an engine builder or machine shop down the road, yes that home brewed
I have now done a clutch change subframe and engine in and out twice virtually on my own, well the 2nd time anyway. So now that I have that under my belt and can do it in a weekend, the next job is a new engine rebuild as the atmo is lacking in a certain department
, I am sure my father will only be too happy to advise me and set me straight.
So when time and funds allow you had better get your ears out
,unfortunately the Atmo has taken rather more time and money than I hoped or could really afford at the time, having stretched the build of my Le Mans replica to over £22,000 grand way beyond the budget expected, but once you've started you have to finish it dont you
. Like I said my mistake was to take on another project which also got started and also ran way over budget by about £5,500 so far
so the money I needed to finish the Le Mans; well I guess you'll all have guessed where thats gone
Thats why the Le Mans has not been fiished as some that have seen it may agree, I am trying to do a nice job so I will not bodge it on the cheap to spoil the overall effect. I still have those black leather seats you sold me many moons ago Clee, once they have been re-covered and trimmed I'll be only too happy to refit them.
So you think I'm full of Sh*te Clee that's fine
Maybe I'll be wrong but I cant be impossible to get reasonably decent power outof a PRV as far as I know I think 340bhp has been acheived from an "extensively, seriously, modified" odd fire normally aspirated lump; not here of course, but in France.
But it looks like you have the time and funds to do the 3ltr EFI before me Clee, so I know you will be looking forward to selling the conversion so we'll see if you with far greater experience and knowledge than myself will come up with. Like I said If it can be done and someone can advise me of a more realistic power figure before I waste my time and limited funds I am all ears, yeh I know and nothing inbetween
I certainly think another 30bhp should availble over over the oddfire fitted to the atmo GTA with those fantastic Solexexexe'sisis. I have been advised that just the exhaust headers and system are worth upto 15 bhp on the 3ltr lump I'll stand corrected If someone knows better
So come on anyone since I am so full of mire, someone please advise what realistic bhp at fly figure should I expect?
Mr Faulks do you have an opinion on this
Kindest regards
