Got a price for the main machining on the lid.I need to look into anodising
costs ,but shouldn't be that much for a batch as they can throw them in with another job, would need to be one colour tho. With the hinge and finished as the proto they are around £18 each.I would think that anodised
versions will be nearer £22/25 as the ali needs a better polish before it can be coated. This is based on an initial 20 off run .

That sounds OK. Would definately be interested in some other components also.

I suppose that's the sort of thing the new club funds (hopefully!!) should be used for to save you having to stump up for 10 sets out of your own pocket.

Peterg, shouldn't you be checking the top speed of your work car (making yourself familiar!) rather than be on here?..

Clee, what software are you using to model your car?

I've just started to model my GTA using Maya. Just started tracing the blueprints at the moment. Have you seen this site:

GTA V6 Turbo - BTW check your earths!

Focus diesel estates with light bars top out at 105mph....thats assuming I actually get out of the office to drive one. I suspect if they gave me a car that did more than 150 I would manage to get out more 8)

Juzz,
No I hadn't seen that site.Wish I had as I couldn't find a blueprint that good and only had this to work from

Image

Think I will start again now as I had to guess a lot and had no top view.
Thanks for the link,I've got a few decent blueprints of all sorts of Renault
competition cars ,I'll post them to that site.
I use a cad program called WorkNC and Rhinoceros ,more manufacturing based than Maya, so the graphics/renderer is pretty basic and it,s not
my thing anyway ,Can't seem to get the material/lights etc right .When I get a decent model together I was going to get a graphic artist mate to do all the tarty bits .If you look in the Trivia bit on this site you'll see progress
so far.

Have looked a bit more into Carbon Fibre and the design as it stands would be very expensive. Most cost effective would be a 3mm plate with
hole thro and the logo as a pencil line recess filled with a contrasting colour ,white ,silver etc :?: Done this way it could even have RAOC or
similar added :?:

The existing lids open the wrong way as the tunnel is left hand only. was thinking of putting the pivot on the short back edges instead .Had a play and it works a lot better I think .

That would be a very sensible mod.
