Talking of synchros.
When I first started looking for a GTA, I was given advice to check 2nd & 4th gear changes for synchro problems.
Is this a weakness of the GTA gearbox or was it simply to find out whether regular services had been carried out - 12K changes on GB oil ??

Changing up or down or both?

It doesn't matter can baulk in either direction up or down the box.

My GTA grinds slightly when changing from first to 2nd only in a race environment ( hill climb starts). I wonder if the oil Alan suggested would fix this ?

Chris,
Certainly the Redline Lightweight Shockproof will do no harm. I find I do grind second occasionally when trying hard.

I think though it is more to do with pulling the gearshift through before the clutch hits the floor, although I do believe the clutch requires more movement of the diaphragm as the clutch wears, which can be solved by sleeving the std slave one size smaller to attain more travel, and still works OK with a new clutch..

In Aus the cheapest place to buy Redline products is www.performancelub.com and luckily for you Chris they are in Melbourne. Bursons also sell Redline.

I am often left still looking for second altogether, must try some new thinner oil, to get by on.
