Almost New - GAZ suspension package

Hi all

I would be grateful if someone who has fitted a full fully adjustable Gaz coilover package to their GTA might give me a few hints on set up. The set I have as I said are almost new and has been fitted to a car already but I have know ideas on how the package arrives as new and a certain someone who shall remain namless el Presidente :lol: decided to twist all the adjustments so I dont even know where it was set up on the other car? Still I suppose you cannot rely on other peoples settings anyway.

Pointers such as start from the middle setting and work either way and overall basic setting tips like soft rear, firmer to the front would all be handy to point me in the right direction. I guess these setting wil vary with the ride height chosen. Are they adjustable for ride height on car ...I am hoping so, obviously shock settings are.

The other thing that I would like if possible is a standard ride hight eg height of front of sill from ground and height of sill just in front of the rear wheels. I am hoping that I will be able to alter the ride height to give it a better and balanced ride height which will help turn in. It's all very well fitting 17's to the front, but the standard car was fitted with 15 inch rims; which significantly raises the nose of the car, the 18's on the rear look great but are also larger than the standard overal rolling diameter too, as I am now finding out and has raised gearing 5% since the speedo does not read 5 mph fast now it reads whats it says on the tin. In essence I need to get the front end correct and then aqdjust the rear to match, but also get a good balance. I am not that bothered about dopping it on the deck, more about getting the poise and better and better controlled suspension set up to help stability into high speed corners.

If anyone has some pointers that will be greatly appreciated.

Adjustable suspension is great.
put it on the car and leave it at one setting.
Mine is all turned up to the harded click (44 of them I think) and then I backed them all off by 4.
I installed stiffer springs, +25% , but would like to try +50 as there is stall a lot of body roll as seem in my race pics.

You can adjust the ride height with the suspension on the car using the C spanner.

My advice would be to set it up approximately, then you want an ultra flat floor to make the final adjustments. (So ideally a garage or similar with space around the car to view it)

With mine I measured with a ruler the ride height all round so the car was totally flat, using the ridge that the jack locks into as the reference. Basically eye-ball it first and then make tweaks all round, measure and re-measure. (You can always adjust again if you change your mind)

As Simon said, set the hardness to max and then back off by XX clicks all round if you want all the same. Tony Smith and others experimented with settings - I think most are running a fraction harder at the front than the rear.

Thanks guys thats really helpful. The bushes that were supposed to be on next day delivery didnt turn up unfortunately and its looking wet out so will probably investigate the front shock removal and sus out the shocks themselves so no go this weekend anyway :roll: well be good to plan ahead rather than rushing in.

Monseur Taylor had you thought of uprated anti roll bars rather than upping the spring rate if you go too stiff it will become very skitish in the wet. I've fitted a 610 rear antiroll bar to rear whilst the subframe was being changed and the clutch done. I could do with getting a front equivalent; anyone have a.spare 610 front antiroll bar I can aquire?

Clee have you looked into having uprated anti rollbars made.....say europa cup spec :?:
