Can anyone tell me the parts used for the a/c rad, receiver drier and pressure switch?

Anyone got any part nos on their car they can see?

If they are the same bits on a 610, the receiver and pressure switch are easily seen.
For the condenser ( rad) I would have thought something could be borrowed from quite a range of cars.
Are you restoring or retrofitting?

Hi Lee

I'm renewing the system, the pressure switch says either 8K3103 or BK3103 hard to tell through the rust and the rad says 059 then the top of a letter which is impossible to work out. Strangely enough neither numbers bring up anything!!

The drier is just a rusty shell :( :(

Also missing the two rear lines from the hard pipes to the compressor if anyone's got any kicking about i could photo or get copies made...

Just spoken to Reader and they think my car might be a Renault fit not by them. Does anyone have the parts manual for this system? Diagram? Could you post it up?

Jon,
There are two different a/c compressor locations on a GTA, where is yours located? One is at the top of the engine, the other down at the bottom.
The receiver drier on the A610 is common to a ren 25, so should be an easy find.
The hoses should be able to get made up by Clees favourite hose company (forgotten the name..PIRTEK??.).
Have the holes in the compressor been plugged whilst the hoses have been disconnected? If not you ought to consider having it overhauled. It will be full of dust which will block the receiver drier when it starts.
The air con is in section L of the workshop manual. Mine is Glue bound so is difficult to scan, someone else may have an original loose sheet copy that would scan better. That said its really replace pipes and receiver and then evacuate (check for leaks), fill once, run, remove gas, fill again. The first fill is to wash out the crud.
If it won't hold vacuum, you then need to find out why before proceeding.
If you can fill it with ST24 gas (NOT the same as Isceon 49, which is more environmentally damaging but a good second choice) rather than the normal stuff that everyone has.
There are a few specialist air con people around who know about older cars.
If you can take off the condenser (rad) and clean it out so you get the best airflow.

Thanks for this Lee, Is the pressure switch and rad the same as a R25 too?

Anyone know the compressor? This 6001009922 is proving a dead end.

Perhaps Sanden SD 508?

Is it the same as a 25 Turbo? Is it a poly or sing belt?

A/C Rad Part number anyone? It's not on the fiche above....

The rad will not be 25 as it has to sit in GTA location .
Compressor ,dryer etc could well be though .I know the mounting brackets I had looked similar and off a 25t so 99% they are the same .
Remember also that you have a thicker main rad so space is limited :wink:
Best bet is to try and search by size and outlets .A trip to a A/C specialist is in order I think or a A/C site with dims and pics .

Jon,
Do you know the Rad is broken? It could be OK. Personally I would get the pipes on it all, replace the receiver and pressure switch and then get it vacuum tested. If it holds vacuum, you are home.
If its faulty and you cannot see the damaged or/its unfixable, then I think you'll need to get something cross matched to fit. I doubt you'll find a replacement rad unless someone is breaking and a/c car (and the A/C normally gets sold as a set then as a retrofit).
If you have a sanden pump, repair kits are easily available from the USA or probably in the UK too, I haven't tried here. A bit of net searching may find the right pump (610 one gets fitted to some US spec hondas) but you'll need to change the pulley over.
The workshop manual says the pump is Sankyo SD510, but there are two different pumps, so that is probably the early (top mounted) one 60 01 009 167.
Later cars its 60 01 022 666, so there must be an alternative co0mpressor when mounted at the bottom.
Rad is 60 01 007 238.
As you notice all alpine (not Renault) part numbers, the pump and rad are different from 610. The pressure switch is a 77 part number so you should be able to find something. It s probably a double switch one set enables the compressor (min pressure) and the second set of contacts turns on the rad fans as the head pressure rises.
As I understand it, these systems are pretty simple, and as long as what you put in there fits the space and doesn't leak it should work.

My reading of the above is that the compressor is 60 01 009 922 am I wrong then?

Could be if it's a really early car, look at the footnote.
If it's post 88 and the compressor is at the bottom of the engine on the rhs, it's the later part number. Clee only put up the srly page of the parts book.
This is sounding like a retrofit with all these questions
Parts book is in the members technical area, you can get al, this yourself too!

No this is a 1989 car with a/c but the part nos etc a nightmare. Spoke to El Presidente yesterday and he was saying even for his car he couldn't get a receiver/drier!

I'll look at the parts books- sorry forgot they were there!

With the change to R134a refrigerant, from the previous R12, a modern parallel flow condenser is a must. You can get these on the aftermarket in any size (come with mounting kit), they are much thinner even though they are 30% more efficient. They don't cost much, much less than trying to source the original.
You can get a receiver drier and tx valve on the aftermarket too. All parts stocked by any a/c automotive specialist in the U.S. like Vintage Air or Arizona Mobile Air, and shipping isn't expensive once you work out what you want. Sanden SD 508s are very common with retrofits. The only part of an a/c system that doesn't need changing is the evap core, and that sits in the car, safe from wear and tear anyway. So just get the other parts, measure up appropriate length refrig lines and voila! 8) BTW, a/c parts are much cheaper to buy during winter.
