A310 rear suspension part wanted.

Postby johnb » Wed Sep 14, 2011 5:42 pm

I am looking for a nearside, rear, upper suspension arm for a 1980 3 stud A310. If anyone has one, in good condition, please advise.

I should have said that it is a V6 A310.
Ignore the duplicate post, I don't know how I did that.

John - I have never come across an A310 being broken for parts in the UK. Is the suspension arm shared with another Alpine/Renault at all?

Have you tried Simon Auto?

Martin,
I don't know whether it's shared with other Renaults but it is possibly the same as on the R5 Turbo as both Mecaparts and GBS show what appears to be the same arm for the R5. Mecaparts use the same Mecaparts part no. for both cars.
I know that Mecaparts, GBS and Simon Auto can supply the arm but I'm looking for a more economical solution than buying a new one. An option is to have new top and bottom plates welded to the side arms which are sound, the top and bottom plates being corroded and flimsy and the reason for this enquiry.
Andy,
Thanks for the offer of assistance. The chassis number is a bit of a mystery as the ident plate is missing and the stamping on the front chassis rail is not clear. However, I think the suspension arm is the same as for the later 4 stud cars. I don't know how to add photos to the forum but I could send you photos direct if you pm your email address.

The 4 stud shares the suspension with the R5Turbo but the 3 stud doesn't. I'm pretty certain that they're A310 only.
The 4 stud has a 'pressed steel fillet' whilst the 3 stud has a single rod to strengthen it.
The last one I can remember being broken was Richard Thomlinson and that was well over 10 years ago.... I think Paul Sage had some suspension bits off it.
I'd give him a quick call. At the least he should be able to confirm this (or confirm I'm a F*&£wit).

By coincidence I was planning to call Paul.
Not sure what you mean about the 3 stud having a single rod to strengthen it. The arm (top rear) has thick pressed steel side arms and thin plates welded across the side arms, top & bottom. Mecaparts have the arm as MP2324 as the link below.

I think they're 4 stud arms, but I can't remember clearly enough to say they definitely are :?
