Distributor Oil Seal

Postby David.C » Tue Sep 27, 2011 6:59 pm

Hi, I need to replace the oil seal on the distributor on my GTA turbo. I've got a new seal but on removing the distributor i can't see how i separate it in order to replace seal. Is there a special technique or is it just forced off ? Can anyone help?
cheers in advance

Thanks
I read on a Volvo 760 forum that there is a pin that needed removing first, but I think that must be shared with the atmo as i couldn't see any pin on mine. Obviously just mark it to make sure it goes back in the right position.

The pin locates the two parts of the rotor drive .One half is dowled to the timing sprocket on the cam and the pin times this to the rotor drive half .Both are held with caphead screw into the cam .You need to remove the caphead and the pull the two apart .They are only held together by the roll pin fixing .
You can see the two parts here .

:? Are we on about the same seal here?

The one I'm referring to is the one directly behind the dizzy cap where it goes into the head. It's push fit, well the one I had was anyway?

 Sorry, my lack of tech knowledge causing confusion. It was the seal on the rotor drive i was on about. There was a mark on mine that looked like it was some kind of retaining pin, worried i might break it if i just pulled them apart.
Thanks for the help
