What colour should I paint my GTA?

Postby Tony Smith » Mon Oct 03, 2011 5:52 pm

One of my GTA's is going up to Andy to be painted in a few weeks and I can't decide on a colour, what do people think would look good, nothing too lairy, and not silver, or solid red or black and not liquid yellow. I thought maybe the Avantime Aubergine might look nice

How about a funky retro colour, orange? Not the metallic Focus ST or Megane 225 orange but a solid orange:

I think that would be 8)

I am a bit of a believer in painting cars the original colour, but have changed the colours of two cars over the years. If changing I would still be looking at a maybe a rarer colour that was available for the GTA when it was sold.

I have only seen one in the dark blue "Marine" in a picture but thought with polished rims on the wheels would look good. You are right though, there are too many red ones.

Thanks for the suggestions

I'll definitely check out the Morocco red, sounds like what I'm looking for. I thought about something bright like an orange (Murcielago) or Imola Orange (Honda NSX) but I don't think the GTA has an extreme enough shape to carry it off. I did really consider liquid yellow as I saw a wide arch kitted A610 at Macon and it was stunning but again with standard arches I'm not convinced the shape can carry it off. A bright metallic blue (Renault Spider/Nissan GTR) is under consideration. Pearl silver was only ruled out because I have silver GTA already. And it was Andy who suggested not going for black

Monkeyboy and I used to discuss this down 'tut pub.

Martin's suggestion was always 'Matrix Black', basically the very dark green / metallic black that pervaded the films. If you look closely even the black stuff in the films has a greenish tinge.

Ducati did a Matrix colour to go with the 996/998 that was used / released for the film.

Could look quite good on a GTA?
