USA?

Postby RedGTA » Wed Oct 19, 2011 8:16 am

Hi lads,

Were the GTAs ever sold in the USA?

Or, has anyone ever successfully imported one to the US and got past EPA requirements?

Is there an exhaust system available with a CAT for the GTA (non-turbo)?

Thanks!
John

renault had intended to start selling them but then AMC was bought by .... (chrysler I think) and it all went to the wall.
The car was redesigned to comply with the USA regs (looked a bit like this ;

GTA LeMans were catalysed weren't they? I'm 99% sure about that (and being down by 15bhp as a result) and since the regular GTA Turbo continued production beyond the limited edition, I'm speculating that some late-model turbos may have had a cat too? :?:

The steel roof-bracing of the A610 was possibly due to the intention to sell those in the US? (Which didn't happen). Think I read that somewhere.

As many questions as answers there, I know. :roll:

This is a translation using Google translate which I am using a lot to translate sections of the A310 manual.

The American version of GTA would conquer this market full of promise. Only a handful of cars will be exported to a late registrations. Note the special protections for this car ready to board.

should read:
only a handful of cars will be exported for registration/homologation purposes.

if you're stuck with french translations, why not ask a french club member :wink:

There's a GTA somewhere in Texas IIRC which has been fitted with a DeLorean engine (because it meets California emissions). Just being catalysed doesn't cut it
