Thanks for the tip,
I wasn't going to go too much higher, as you say if I need to go further then pausing and saving a bit more is a more sane approach. However, my plan was to slowly get it sorted over the course of six months or so if it turns out to be a sound basis to start with.

Cheers,

Sam

Sam,

Welcome to the forum, I'm sure you'll find it friendly and informative. Glad you posted up as it would be irritating to find us bidding against each other. I'll back off and leave it to you and hope you get a good buy?

Andy,

Forgot to say thanks for the thought.

Trevor.

Well done! Cheap GTA that.

You should be able to join via the main site (don't click the forum button). Click on "The Club" then download the application form.

You also need to fill in your whereabouts on your profile

Is there a hotbet of GTAists round here then?

Will work through the stuff and get joined...

Do you work for Bentley by any chance then?

There are a few GTA's/Alpines around the North West, check the events section for our next meet in January.

Welcome aboard!

Posh Passats??

Nope, we do scientific instruments, I'll certainly look at the times of the meetings, although I travel a fair bit with work.
Looking forward to it, will write an intro bit after I've picked it up.

Well done, you should be able to get that tidied up quite easily. Southport is not far from me. I'm intrigued as to whether this is my old GTA.

It's nice to see another one on the road to saviour.

Nice, quality bidding Sam! I reckon you've got a lot of GTA for not much money. I paid nigh on that for my basket case, although in my defense I have a lot of emotional 'baggage' with mine (it's my old GTA from 10 years ago). Looking forward to seeing you at the Northern meet if possible, although unless I win the lottery I won't be in my GTA yet. :(

Make sure you keep us posted on this forum with your tales, it's always great to read.

Andy.

Thanks all for encouragement and support, after further grilling of the owner it does sound like there's a few electronic wrigglies to sort, but I'm going to go for the big pick up tomorrow, so will send an update to the right part of the website tomorrow.
I'm not keeping the rego because it's more money, and I'd rather have a big fighting fund, plus it isn't it's original number anyhow.
I'm looking forward to it greatly, it's a car I remember the first one I ever saw (owned by the frontman of a band called Strangeways-big in Germany), so I'm ticking one of my list of must-owns with this.
The guys at work think it'll be like the first part of the 6 Million Dollar Man intro but I'm confident!

Yeah, that's him, the one with the hair....
My Dad was a vet in Lincolnshire and he moved in there and took his dog to the surgery. A very dull life spotting cars in and out of the car park, that was the level of excitement.
Nearest I've got to german music is playing Autobahn whilst on the autobahn.

Wee..eee..eellll,
I went to pick up the car but with agreement with the vendor it's not the car for me. I don't know if you want me to go into details on this public part of the forum or not, but I was concerned with a fairly constant stream of fine bubbles coming up out the header tank and the ABS light came on and stayed on.
The guy selling it was a top bloke and not trying to hide a thing, so if you want to buy it and get on with driving it (could be nothing I suppose), or have a couple of weekends to spend on it in the near future I think it's going to be relisted.

Cheers,

Sam
