Yes I think there is a gremlin in this forum that doesn't like me or is at least testing my resolve and internet capabilities but I think I've done it today. I'm of the opinion that it's probably me being inept.
Nice to meet you by the way.
Yes, you trying to get into my car reminded me of when I went to buy a fully restored Lotus Europa (which I had in my youth) a while back after a bit of contorting I got in it but concluded that I would have to turn up to the Lotus meetings press the window button and get my beer delivered by the bar person as after a fun drive probably wouldn't be able to get out. And crawling out of it on my hands and knees does nothing for your image.

22 years ago I went to look at one (cash in pocket and sure I'd be driving it home) but after sitting in it for 10 seconds I realised that even though I'm a gnats under 6ft, I'd need a couple of inches removed from my legs to be comfortable in there.

The OP was asking for offers for £10K so I'm not sure how my guess of £7k is talking up. In fact in the past 12 months I don't know of any A610s to sell for less.

Oh sorry, there was one wasn't there but let's ignore that one as the seller was wondering if he was going to have to break it for spares.

In any case market will decide on the real price. I'm assuming the car has not done many miles and is OK as far as mechanics or structure are concerned.

Damage history becomes less of an issue as age and scarcity overtake but with 20 odd cars about, there's probably still too many to ignore the damage but it is important that the repair has been done well.

to be honest it'sprobably worth £4k or less in it's current state plus looking at it realisticly it's a damaged repairable that's been off the road a long time.... has the mileage been disclosed yet? that may have an affect, extremely low miles may help boost it's worth .....

Oooh, I would not like to be in the OPs shoes if that is all this is worth but I think some of you are talking it down because you want to bag it as a bargain which is really not fair on the seller.

I can't understand why he hasn't had the paint done though as it would be much more appealing.

I would also look to marketing it beyond RAOC.

My two penneth

Postby Tony Smith » Sun Dec 25, 2011 7:51 pm

Interesting thread this one. I've found many of the 'proper' supercars I've tried are so cramped inside for me (6"2 15 Stone -ish  ) that I would never have felt comfortable - that includes several Ferraris but none more so than the Esprit - I thought it was pretty much the worst car I've ever sat in from that point of view. You could always do what I've done and build a GTA with the power to weight ratio of an Esprit V8. And a decent set of wheels and some lowering improve the looks of the GTA no end.

2+2 values - several of the Ferrari +2's from the 60's/70's are worth money-Daytona anybody?

I believe the Daytone is a two seater but may be wrong.

True speak!! The place where 2+2 seats would be in a coupe is a flat carpeted shelf with strapping for the additional luggage, as seen, (just), in the seventh photo of the link below.

Stunning motor car all the same even if it isn’t a 2+2 and if I was in the market for one of these the lack of rear seats wouldn’t be an issue in the slightest.

What's all this talk of comparing the A610/GTA with supercars or Italian exotica?

I thought it was supposed to compare with the 911 which other than the exotic and later versions was an OK sportscar but no supercar.

I've done trips of a couple of hundred miles with 4 people in both GTAs and A610s and they are not uncomfortable if ungainly for ladies in dresses or skirts.

I'm not sure what makes the A610 and GTA so special for me. I think that it is that in their day, it was a considered choice. Nobody bought these cars because of their badge or because they were flash motors. I certainly knew people in the time buying Porsche just because it sounded good.

You only bought a Renault Alpine because you understood why it was so special.

On balance I think I prefer the look of the GTA but the A610 brought the looks more up to date at the time.

I need to sober up after the Christmas festivities. The rear ends of both of those look OK to me.

My eye test is booked for later this week.
