My R5 Turbo 2

Postby phildini » Thu Nov 25, 2010 12:30 pm

My R5 Turbo 2 THE STORY SO FAR: I bought this car to scrap two years ago as I had a solid shell. The idea was to transfer the parts over to the shell. On closer inspection I realised that the rust on it was not terminal. As a R5 Gordini lover I know these MK1 bodies very well so the fact that it needed two sills and two front floor pans did not scare me. Unfortunately like always you start on a project that suppose to be straight forward and then………………….. So now I will be replacing the roof ( hate the sunroof ) and an inner wing, and make it as nice as I can. Since I bought the car MINI DINI came into this world so my spare time has been cut down to ZERO!! After a few phone calls with Brave Andy up north I have decided to send the whole project up to him. Hopefully while he does the work he will also be snapping away with his camera, so I should be able to upload some progress pic’s.

Two years of searching, you can't buy T2 inner panels you need to buy standard R5 mk1 and then convert them, ask Andy he has loved the conversion process...... I also chopped many R5's so had plenty of used panels.
