Done!

I don't want necessarily free tax but at least reduced, in line with other European countries, in Italy you pay 35euros for classic cars...... but free would be nice too

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but I think we have no chance of this ever happening in our lifetimes, in fact Mr Cameron may do the opposite...

George Osbourne - "Dave we have a petition here from that Nigel Kennedy wannabe to get his Alpine free road tax?"

David Cameron - "Eh? What's the crack at the moment Georgy Baby?"

GO - "Well any car built before 1st Jan 1973 gets historic road tax for free"

DC - "WHAT!! Free, sod that Georgy, so all these old clapped out cars with mahoosive CO2's are running around for free? What year is the French Ferrari?"

GO - "1989"

DC - "No chance in fact scrap the whole Historic Road tax thing and make everyone pay like everyone else. More money in the coffers George  "

Or something along those lines

Done too.

One of the reasons the government support was high for it originally was supposedly because a lot of Conservative ministers had classic car collections..... anything to save a penny or two. It's either that or scam your expenses

Total waste of time ...wake up and smell the reality boys....The whole petition system is set up to make you think you have a voice but in fact you are all mushrooms
When was one of these ever debated in the commons ????

I prefer to focus my efforts on my tax return

To be fair Northern Chum apparently it just takes 100,000 votes and it must be discussed in parliament by law. I bet this happens at 5 to 5 in the afternoon when only 3 backbenchers and screaming lord sutch are left behind.

All I am saying (tried to be jovial by the way but yet again a lead baloon moment  ) is to be careful what you wish for in these uncertain times.

Take the pension age for Women for example:

Man - Why are women allowed to retire earlier than blokes? Can we retire at 60 as well please on full pension?

MP - You are spot on thanks for pointing it out. Decision - make everyone retire at 65!

The same thing happened on the car insurance Men V's Women also....

Yes it must be 'discussed ' ...on a smaller scale how many things have been discussed on this here forum and to what end ( given you are now a power that be I will leave that hanging .....)

OK , will now tootle off and find out how many have been tabled since inception ....don't hold your breath .

Uncertain times ? In my experience my own fortunes have never played ball with the times and political bent .
