sump side blanking plug thread

Postby pgoldsmith » Sun Feb 05, 2012 11:01 pm

One for the technical / mechanical people.

I'm considering installing an oil temp gauge and the kit details a sump plug sender. I know on my car (1990) there is a plug on the side thats not used for anything. Anybody know what size & type of thread this is?

Cheers,
Paul

I've got the same plug but don't know the size sorry.

On another note, did all GTA's have the actual sump plug (not the blanking plug) on the forward-facing side of the sump?

Would make more sense to me to have it accessible from the rear. Must be a reason it's that way though. Legacy of the PRV engine normally facing the other way perhaps? Or maybe provides better cooling having the lowest point of the sump facing into the breeze?
