Clutch???

Postby mogster242 » Mon Feb 20, 2012 12:59 pm

Hi all,

went for a drive yesterday to take advantage of the sunny weather... 8)

but as i tried to accelerate from about 3500-4000rpm in 4th or 5th gear the engine went up in rev but car didnt accelerate  to actually accelerate i would have to take my foot up, wait for rev to go down and then put foot down again very gently. didnt notice this in lower gears though

would this be the clutch starting to slip?

if yes what can i do? can it be adjusted/repaired or does it mean new clutch? how can i investigate?

thanks in advance

Clutch slip ,will be more noticeable in higher gears .Can't be ' adjusted ' needs to come out .Not much point messing about trying to repair/swap parts as it is out anyway .New clutch about £170 ?? Dellboy only has 610 ones in stock I think ?
Can do in a day as yours is all loose from the last time

Yes really .
You could attempt to do it with an engine hoist but TBH it is far easier just to drop the subframe as yours will not fight to come out .
On the ramp it will only take 6/8 hrs + clutch /fluids .so around £500 all in .

Very good value Clee. It does make.the difference though when its all been apart recently and not welded together with corrosion

Has anybody bought a clutch from those guys before? seems a good price at half what Mecapart and SimonAuto charge?

These are listed and cross referencing comes up with correct Valeo code .They also list different for Atmo which is encouraging.

Perhaps the club will pay for testing ?
This would benefit all and be a good use of all those spare ££££ss not being spent on WSR this year

The above guys are ok I bought a few things from him. Not very good in keeping you updated though.

Renault clutch has gone pricey @ 224.68+VAT

And they still advise binning the bearing in the box and buying another for 16.32+VAT. No idea though why.

Clutch is for a Renault 25 V6 Turbo.

Can get it down to £201 inc with some club discount.

Or try Helix.
