Insurance cockerel up.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Postby mav » Fri Jun 10, 2005 12:58 pm

After someone reversing into my car and a wait of over 4 weeks the engineer said the book price of a Alpine GTA turbo is £1800. hence Total loss on my car. We all no this is utter nonsense. I have sent some Internet adverts to prove otherwise.
Renault UK have quoted the Engineer £6020 for a new front panel, simons autos is £760 i have tried telling them this price has to be a computer error but they will not have it.
Does anybody know what they cost new or a Number/Email address for renault FRANCE to try and sort this owt.
If anybody has any advice please feel free to comment. thanks very much in advance Chris.

Re: Values

Refer them to the price guide on this website

http://www.renaultalpine.co.uk/price_guide.htm

Re: Front Panel.

6001019012 £701.44+VAT From Renault.

Comes complete with headlamp glasses, so quite good value really.

You'll also need a new badge as the diamond will no longer fit.

6001014708 is £6432.98+VAT but has been superseded by the part number above.

It will probably still be written off though as most repairers weight insurance estimates. If you love the car buy it back cheaply and have it repaired yourself. You could find yourself in pocket.

Saying a GTA turbo is only valued at £1800 is nonsense!

I was lucky I didn't need new panels, but my insurance company recently gave me a cheque for £2000 to cover the cost of repairs to the side of my GTA turbo. And they said if the cost of repairs was more than 60% of the value of the car they would write it off. So to give me £2000 they obviously think a GTA is worth more than £1800!

Is their really a book price for GTAs? I think he's making that up.

Insurance is about giving you back what you had before, No more than or less than that. It's their first offer. Do your homework. Get an Idea of what it would cost to buy a similar standard car. Then get them to contact a few specialists. Mention this site and the links page.

Then cross your fingers etc etc..
