Turbo reconditioning

Postby paul_J » Wed Mar 28, 2012 12:25 pm

Hi all.

Pushing myself to get my GTA back together. I would like to get the turbo reconditioned, it had a Turbo Technics plate on it, so I phoned them up. Turns out they have none in stock, would have to strip mine down and then give me a price, anywhere up to £430 + VAT. If I chose not to get it done they can then send it back to me in bits for £50. Then it turns out I have to go through a garage even to get it sent to them as 'they've had problems with the public' in the past. Maybe its fair enough, but I don't think I'll be using them!

Can anyone offer me advice or where I should go next, all I want is to give someone my money in exchange for a rebuilt turbo, seems to be harder than I expected!

cheers

Paul.

....a friend of mine used Essex Turbos. Took the opportunity to hybrid it at the same time for not much extra cost.

sorry for the late reply here, managed to lock myself out of the forum

Thanks for the advice here. I sent it off to Turbo Developments in the end:

Price for a basic rebuild started at £180+ postage etc, the price for this was £330 total, had a chat with him about it, however a little disappointed to find that there was no written breakdown/itemised receipt of what work had actually been carried out. And although the courier services were next day, it was sat in their workshop for over a week before they even looked at it so don't rely on their '24hrs turnaround'. But anyways at least they trust me to refit it myself! And they supplied new gaskets with it. Hope to test drive the car soon..

Paul.
