Thanks All. One more question – is there any use trying to soften the bush before installing? Does hot water help for example?

The material is quite hard compared to an 'old' style rubber bush.

BTW - the bush I've got is for my R25 so the current assumption is that it will fit as per a Fuego one.

The new plastic on mine looked like nylon, so I don't think it will soften until very close to its melting point, the caulking gun (special tool) that Dave used should allow it to be fitted anyway.
Have fun

Yep, some smart alec has a picture of me I think, lying on my back in the dirt and sweltering heat trying to fit mine at the camp site on day one. I think it was that Mr Taylor if I'm not mistaken... :P

Good look fitting it btw, it was a bigger! That tool in the previous picture would have been very handy. I think I managed to prise it in using my wheel brace for leverage at the time.

I guess a GTA with a/c would be difficult too.
This seems to be the most common roadside issue with these cars, at Macon in 2009 we had two go in what 10 cars? I know of many others that have gone too...
If it hasn't been replaced everyone needs to inspect it. The new ones are made of a different material, harder, so harder to fit, but it should survive better.
Definitely a do it now job.

Thanks fot that Lee, I must get my butt in gear and get a couple soon, Still on the plus side I have one of the special tools used for installation.

We could run a competition to go with the calendar, “Guess whose feet”. Doesn’t Jason look really hacked off; anybody would think he had to make the repair.

I know the calendar hasn't got the popular appeal of clee's request, but a gear change failure calendar certainly has enough photos to be practical.
I made it into Jules' 2009 Macon video too, well my feet did, you can choose the month...
It would make an unusual calendar, unique even....But bizarrely I'd buy one..
You can see it " Renault alpine a car do well engineered that every one has been laid up by a £2 bush failing......"
Mind you it did get me the car on a trailer shot of my car that I love...

 Nice one Tony, so you were the culprit! :P

Actually, I think he did help by passing me that wheel brace that's on the floor by the tent, which is what I used to prise the bush in with. :D
