So it starts, the revival of a brand > Alpine

Postby covert » Fri May 04, 2012 12:48 pm

I saw this on LeAutoBlog Below, google translation, it would be great to get real life images of the car or first hand impressions, even hearing the car?.. if they can pull it off unlike the "Gordini Revival" then they may have something very special...

Renault has set a date to revive Alpine. To emphasize the involvement of the brand sport as an engine of F1 World Champion, the concept called "ZAR" will be unveiled during the Grand Prix of Monaco.
Presented for the first time in 1962, the Alpine A110 celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this year. It is with this jubilee that Renault has decided to revive the brand of John Rédélé.
And rather than endurance rallies where the couple Alpine - Renault started, Renault F1 to revive the brand Alpine. And it will be during the day "off" Grand Prix of Monaco, Friday, May 25, the "ZAR", which foreshadows the future of Alpine, will be unveiled.
Who better Alain Prost, new brand ambassador for leading the "ZAR" on a lap of Monaco? Even Jean Ragnotti? Renault have found! Reportedly, Carlos Tavares, great initiator of the revival of Alpine, would reserve the first to hear first ride!
How do you imagine this new Alpine? A real little berlinetta? A cut most imposing took elements developed by Nissan ? A signature or near DeZir a neo-retro?

At super car prices, they won't sell many (like the A610 etc).
The Renault name (even in association with the 'Alpine' name) isn't 'prestige' enough.
They can sell some using the Alpine history/memory but the numbers would be much too low for such a big manufacturer.

I'm just hoping it's a Elise/Exige type car. Small, light and a mental 4 pot motor.

Not some pseudo supercar - never part of Alpine's raison d'etre.

Looks more up market than that to me if it ends up anything like that blue car. Lovely, just hope they produce it and it's not too price heavy.

It's got to be a rear engined (possibly GTR seen as they own Nissan) and 4-500 bhp otherwise it will be another flop in my opinion...
