The truth behind the idiot (Clarkson) crashing the A610

Postby B1 RMA » Mon May 07, 2012 2:46 pm

In conversation with people I quite often hear about the crashing of this A610 on one of his videos. I admit to not knowing the true facts behind this stunt which I can only assume was done for publicity, along with the super injunction and the recent series of Top Gear my feelings towards Mr Clarkson have gone from one of tolerating him to one now where he truly outshines Boris in bafoon ranking. I read somewhere that the steering lock problem was due to the car being set up for the remote controlled crash, if so I guess again like the truth behind the recent Wheeler Dealers slight of hand just highlights what crap we are prepared to consume. So does anyone have the facts behind the crash?

I think you pretty much have it, it was due to them faffing with the car. I had known for sometime that a lot of the stuff on Top Gear is set up as I know someone in the Porsche Club who directs some of the short clips and he has never tried really hard to deny this is the case. Having said that was the A610 stunt for a solo video or Top Gear?

Thanks for the replies, I've been caught out a couple of times as I knew nothing about it when the matter was brought up. I found the clip on You Tube and it's obvious he wasn't in it, but I'll have a look through the forum so that I have the correct version of events. Still a waste of what looked to be a nice car and it's strange how a bit of negative false publicity like this hangs over the car.

This is the main thread:

I remember just after it came out at Chumley a guy came over to me:

"These are the cars that have all the steering problems aren't they?"
