Moving to the USA

Cheers again for the good wishes.

Everyone did seem very friendly. I don't know if that's typical for all the USA or just that area, but we weren't necessarily doing tourist-y things and just meeting every day locals everyone still seemed very friendly.

And I did catch something on a news channel over there, they were complaining about the rising price of fuel, just like we do, but I worked it out, and they are paying less than half what we pay for a gallon of petrol!

We were due to move to Georgia last year, but that has been delayed due to my health and multiple operations. But hopefully its just arounf the corner now.

Good luck with the visa also. I have a L3 internal work transfer visa. But that is only applicable to companys that have a well established presence in the states.
Since your company is just setting up shop that will be a tad harder. Your company will also have to prove to imigration why someone from the USA cannot do that job, and they need to be really convincing !.

I used David Turner, top chap, but exspensive. My visa was a tad over 5K.

Hi, just an update to say I went down to London for my visa interview last week, had it approved and it arrived last Friday. Paul, I've got something called an E work visa. I think it did cost the company about 5k.

I've been given a leaving date of 12th July. So full steam ahead!

Anyway, I thought I'd try my hand at being a cheeky begger and ask if anyone wants to look after my GTA for two years - I need somewhere to store it while I'm away?

All of which means I won't be making any major events this year, like Le Mans or Macon. I either won't be here or too busy sorting out plans for my move. I'm planning to keep my GTA but haven't worked out what to do with it yet. I'll have to look into putting it into storage for a couple of years. Ideally, I'd like to have a few jobs done on it while I'm away: engine and gearbox rebuild, suspension and rear subframe and suspension turrets refurbed and respray. It's just an idea. In an ideal world I'd like to have all these things done while I'm away, but might end up having all, only some or none of it done, depending on costs and funding etc. I think it's something I might have to weigh up once I'm settled in the USA and see how things are going...

It does need work doing Lee, which I had in mind of trying to have done while I am away and you were in the forefront of my mind, amongst others. But until I'm in the States and settled a bit and have a better idea what my cost of living is going to be like I really don't have any idea what my funding situation will be, to have any work done on my car yet.
