Was really nice to see you Simon
thanks again for advice and support
It was a lovely dry sunny day in Abingdon on saturday, though quite cold
I started in the morning with the Abingdon course (very wide fast track with long sweeping bends): not used to this as i normally do narrow twisty hillclimbs.
1st practice run No Time Recorded, which is probably a good thing as i found myself quite far from the racing line at times
2nd practice run was better but could do much better. was very nervous taking those bends at speed although was told you could go flat out all the way
1st timed run was again an improvement but i was still not satisfied
2nd timed run flat out through the first set of bends but went off spinning entering the chicane
nevermind!!!
In the afternoon was the Bentley course (narrow sharp bends track):
long straight, 90 degree to the right short straight 180 degree left again short straight 90 degree right long straight again, chicane and finish line.
i am more used to this kind of tracks so went a bit better and improved through the runs
16 cars in the class as listed above with the addition of 2 double driven late entries: an MG6 and a Porsche 911.
i managed to beat the mg6 and a mini cooper s on the Abindgon course and both drivers of the 911 on the bentley course, not that great a result as i finished 1 before last overall (total of each course best time)
a bit disappointed with the results but had a great time. can only improve
first in class was the porsche 996 with 20 seconds faster than me overall
overall a fantastic day, real value for money with a total of 8 runs on 2 great courses. Met loads of great people too, including a member of this club with an interesting project, hopefully he will start a project thread soon
