Car 1 Insepcted today

Good overall condition,(excluding interior) leaking coolant pipes where they run through the chassis!

Engine and box need to be removed to fix those properly.

Yep!

Does anyone know a source of these pipes. Apparently the bends at the engine end are tricky to do.

I forgot to say, car one is now discounted. It was a 2 owner pearl white 1989 car. The first owner one the car as a proze in a Moet champagne competition! The current owner has had the car since 2003 but has known it from new.

The car has excellent paint, a new clutch, leather seats, no rust in the turrets, Engine all original complete with the trays to hold the wiring, started first time after standing for quite a while, most electrics working (see below)

Downsides:
Coolant pipes!
Leather needs reconnolising and refitting properly
centre console is tatty but the owner has parts to fix
car has been repainmted at some point, but in the original colour
some rust in front cross member
rotten mid cross member but only on the drivers side
door check strap corroded away but door hing uprights seemed sound
windows, mirror and hazard lights not working
No handbooks, but a stack of old MOT's

The current owner also has quite a few GTA parts from a car he broke some years ago.

I reckon its a good project car, but the price is high as it needs engine out to sort the coolant pipes

Thanks for all you input so far guys. Very helpful forum

If it's been leaking a while, the chassis could be rusting.

Before I removed the coolant pipes from the chassis of my A310 there was a sign of leakage in the 'tunnel'. When I removed the pipes the leak was where the hoses attach to the tubes at the rear of the tunnel. So water in the chassis was minimal and rusting was only minor surface rust which has cleaned up. With the rubes removed I could see right down the tunnel and it was in good condition.
Regarding a source for the tubes you could try what I did and find a fabricator who will do one-off copy jobs. I used a local stainless steel exhaust fabricator. See my forum topic:

Well I have done it

I have agreed with Clee to buy the blue car that he has once he has refurbed/re-assembled it.

Standard spec except for coilovers :)

The only downside is I have to wait whilst CLee finishes it :(
