Insurance and travel abroad

Postby B1 RMA » Mon Jul 02, 2012 9:03 am

I may be stating the obvious here but I've been having a bit of trouble getting breakdown cover for the trip over to the Classic Lemans. Basically most of the companies that offer cover stipulate that the car must be under 16 years of age so my 18 year old A610 is left out in the cold a bit. Many years ago I insured one of my old Lotus cars with Footman James and in checking out today I have been informed they offer European recovery as standard with their policies, so when my policy runs out next year it may be worth considering are there other companies members use that also offer this because Competition Car Insurance my present insurers don't.

I have my GTA, and my other two cars with Aviva who throw in continental break down cover with the RAC as standard. There is also an option to give you UK break down cover for £45 as well. May be worth checking out.

I must admit when I took my insurance out I was keen to use my cars for the odd trackday hence Competition Car insurance who cover trackdays in the policy, as I don't want to use either for trackdays now it would make sense next time to have European recovery as I will probably go abroad for car events Footman James offer this type of cover so I will also check out the company you use as well.
