Word of caution regarding turret rot ....Car passed MOT a couple of days before with only handbrake fail but ...MOT guys are not allowed to remove any bits so was not visible until I remove the heatshield when dropping the guts .A few taps with the rot finder and this is what you get .

I wish someone would fix the edit facility .......



Anyway ...car is now round at Mark's to sort the rot and should be back Monday .Subframe and running gear also need a few repairs due to siezed bolts etc then we are going to try some of this stuff .

Really glad now that last year's MOT mentioned that the subframe etc. needed tidying up - so that you found this before it got a whole lot worse!

They didn't like the look of the subframe and suspension in summer 2011 but still passed it. As you say, they won't have seen the bottom of the turrets.

Was great to see how much better this is looking the other day!

Back at RATS now as well .All rot sorted .Other turret was hiding a lot more between the joints of turret to main chassis .
Got busy with the Zinga on the framework but have run out before doing lower wishbones




Can be left as is or overpainted ?? Black ??

What do you reckon in terms of top-coating over the Zinga?
How was it to use?

Easy enough to apply ,First coat goes on like std paint but 2nd feels ' thicker ' on application and goes off faster also ( well, seems to )
Top coat would look better over time I feel .Let me know if you want anything other than Black

RATS is off to do some mobile repairs so will be next week before I'm back on with it .New supplies should be here tomorrow though .1kg tin just about enough to do as seen .Could have thinned it down as I bought that as well and may go further if sprayed .

I agree on the top coat and the Zinga manuals says the same sort of thing and even longer lasting.

Colour: trying to decide between black and silver. I know black looks good... so, I think it's probably best to go for that.

Why not strip the bushes from the arms and strip them, grease them and re-fit them??

Rear gear all ready to build up .Also got Nick's to do then it's engine builds for the next week .Darren's needs a pot pulling and replacing + build up top end for Nick's car .
Pull the gearbox off Jon's and clean the powerplant up as well as it'll look pants plonking a dirty lump on this shiny lot

If it was mine, I would drill a 10-15mm hole in the corner of the lower wishbone plate, to aid drainage of water and dust. It could prevent a rust trap in the future. I can tell you that a simple small water only hole is no good, it quickly gets blocked with a little stone etc.

They already have a large scallop in the center outer edge .But yes it always helps .One of the wishbones has had a full plate welded over to repair and I do need to put the scallop/hole in that .
