MSA regs require that I do not alter the shiloette of the car above the wheel centre line. Does this "bonding" technique meet my requirements.
I guess I need to wait for a proto pic to turn up???

I'm definitely interested in a clear louvered hatch :D

Simon Gamblen has louvered hatch and has never had any issues with scruteneering as far as i know....

That's because the slats are recessed whereas with bonded on hole covers it will protrude OE lines .

My only requirement would be that it accepts the original mounting fixtures so that it's a straight forward exercise to replace the current glass hatch and that it opens and closes the same way.

I'd be wanting to run the car with it fitted during the Summer and then swap it over with the glass hatch for the Winter.

Routed out main panel, heat bent then bonded/fixed ?
Got to be the sensible option but really depends on the finished look .Could look too ' rally/race ' for a lot of OE guys .
If I could find a guy with a big enough vac bed then the cleaner look would be to machine slot then pull the shape to form the recess .

Must have an idea of price ??

Something along those lines. Brief was if it was more than £200 - £300 then there would most likely be no interest. Plain routed panel without vents obviously cheaper.

Flat sheet or with a lip ? I made a 6mm thick one for JIL years ago and found all 4 corners would bend up at speed
The covers would obviously stiffen it up and so may not do it as much but I think it needs the return on 3 sides to really make it rigid .

I was thinking more like 500 if it was done' properly ' ala F40 .Would that scare any of those showing an interest ?

Obviously needs to be as rigid as possible.
A row of vents in the middle is a must, otherwise it defeats the objective of lower engine temps during the so-called Summer months.

I would still buy one.

£500 - £600 was the ballpark for that but tooling costs were massive.
