Venturi Atlantique 300 single turbo offered for sale
Chassis number: VF9 CUP 411 98 673 053.
1997
45,000 Miles
Colour – Metallic Green, Cream Leather, Walnut dashboard, a nice colour combination.
The car is known to the Venturi group and has always seemed to be a very clean and cared for car. Over the last few years it has been a regular attendee at the La Vie en Bleu weekends, but only on Saturday.

Hi the ad claims its a 24v...I guess from Wikipedia.
As the Venturi UK owners website is down, does anyone know a good source of information about these cars?

This is iain's car, cant belive he is selling up!! It is a lovely car that is in a nice colour combo. needs a wheel refurb but for 25k i am sure he would get it done. A nice car for someone.

For anyone in the market for one of these, all i can say is they are fab, i run mine often and i have had no dramas since sorting out the bodge jobs done by the privous owner!! I find it more comfortable than my old A610 due to better seats and more head room. They are deffo more twitchy than the A610 which is more planted. The build of the interior is pritty good for a hand built car, far better than a TVR or Lotus, but it is no german build quality but no bad at all. As an all rounder it is very good indeed they make a great GT car.

Hi Lee yes they are 24V as they have later 3.0 litre V6 24 valve Peugeot/Citroën units when compared to my 260.

By the way the stuff about Clarkson is inaccurate, In the Top Gear test mentioned from 1992 it was my 260 he makes the comments about when pitched against a bright yellow A610 and the test/show pre-dates the 300 in this country by at least 3 years. I can’t remember Clarkson ever road testing a 300, this task fell to Vicki Butler-Henderson, she pitted the 300 against a Honda NSX squealing with glee all the way around a track before handing it to the Venturi. Clarkson may have driven a 300, I remember one in some obscure international drag race possibly for one of his many videos?

Check this out from Pistonheads, it is factually accurate and was written by a couple of Belgians who dealt in Venturi along with other marques.

VBH and the Atlantique 300, go to 5.40 to miss the Hummer. Unfortunately this particular car was written off due to fire damage about 6 or 7 years ago.

So 12 single turbo and 2 biturbos built. How many left? Anything special to look for? Weren't the 24v PRV famous for head issues?
Guess its un1 gearbox, anything else to recognise from an alpine?
I remember a dealer asking £25k for a silver 300 last year and there was the one in the dell cave (now rescued and restored) and Martin had one too didn't he...

Better not go and look.

The single turbo was the old PRV 12V engine. Basically A610 engine.

The 24V bi turbo was the newer quad cam engine as found in the Laguna /Clio V6 etc except with a pair of turbos. This was the engine used in the later Atlantique.

The PRV 24V was only used in the Venturi 400/500/600 again as a bi-turbo. This was the serious power engine. Cam/follower wear usually due to lack of oil changes/wrong oil.

Keep it under your hat but this seems a bit expensive to me, but that is the right of the seller and it's upto the buyer if they pay that much. :wink:

Gearbox?

Couple of quick Venturi questions. Are the versions with the newer 24v engines still inline and if so which gearbox did they use?
Alpines - GTA 3.0 Turbo, GTA 3.0 Inj (Project DD), GTA 6.2 V8 (500 bhp) , R32 Skyline GTR, BMW Alpina B10 635 Highline, Alpina B10 E39 5 Series, Jaguar 4.2 XKR, Laguna 205GT, BMW 120d.

Yes the 24V's are in line, but I'm not sure about the gear box but it won't be a lot different from the UN1. The Bi-turbo is in line but probably a later gearbox. Richard Walsh may be best placed to answer on the Bi-turbo. :wink:

I agree paul but it is a barging for the froggy's and the silver one got the asking price of £25k when i asked them he said he was offered £23k for it in the first week!!!
