Computer fix?

Postby Trevor Skedge » Thu Aug 02, 2012 8:27 pm

Got the GTA out of the garage where it has been for 2 months and thought it had a dead battery but think it was poor terminals. I tried to jump start it and eventually it fired up once I moved the terminals around and made a good connection. The computer was working fine when I put it away 8 weeks ago but now the display is fully, ie, reads 888888888 across. Any ideas?

Hold the reset button down. Should clear it.
I'm just here for the gasoline.

I had a problem with mine on the way to Le Mans this year, it started to misbehave just before we arrived at the tunnel, It remained like this all the way to Le Mans, I had a fuel reading but nothing else despite the engine being started and stopped several times and many pushes of the reset button. When we got to the camp site it was far too dark to do anything but the next morning I disconnected the battery for an hour and when I reconnected the battery it returned back to normal, well as normal as any French car can be!!! LOL.

........... if these types of problems occur with the computer, I would suggest a full reset of the computer, the method of which has been well documented in this forum.

Pressed the reset and it worked but once I stop and restart it does the same thing and I have to press the reset each time. Had a search for computer reset but couldn't find it so is it a matter of disconnecting the battery for an hour.

If on restart, the battery is low and the start is laboured.... the computer will crash. If this is the case, disconnect the battery and clean both battery pillars and the battery cable clamps, also check where the battery earth is connected to the car body (just below the battery) and charge battery.

Disconnect Earth terminal of battery, press and hold the reset button below the rev counter and count slowly to 20... (20secs).... reconnect earth lead, press reset once to restore correct computer readings.
