Bolts through the side of the block into the two middle saddles .Strengthens the assembly .

No blasting ,not worth the risk .I don't remove the core plugs only the tapped holes .
Darren's block went to the machinist for liner seats so I got them to steam it .DIY it's down to Gunk for the worst bits then elbow grease with parts cleaner .Pic above is Rottbott's lump during build up after a few hours graft .
Will be cleaning down Darren's with parts cleaner and gallery brushes again before assembly .

Update on this is we have some odd head issues so pulling the heads and or lump soon .
Will run fine as you like for 60 + miles then the temp gauge behaves like an airlock issue eventually going into the red .Release pressure and she's fine again for another 50 .....
Anyway ,had her on the rollers and seems to be worst under bigger boost so something is weeping past the firerings into the water circuit .Had to double shim the liners to bring it within tolerance .
Hey-ho off the heads we go and hope something shouts at me .
Darren is being very patient atm but the new outdoor facilities should speed things up

Finally the rain has stopped enough for me to pull the lump ...Tent keeps rain off but does increase the river on the floor so getting underneath was not not going to be pleasant ....

Anyway ,good news is that a liner has cracked  Good news in that it all had to come out but something shouted at me

Never had one do this so far and this was new build lump with only low boost running in miles on it .25 year old liners ay

Problem is... this is a later cross bolt block but 2.5l not 3 so the liners are even rarer than usual ...I think I have some but they are in another lump .No spares and no-one cares

 :D

Think these engines are really crap :P
Why did they not do it with liners to shrink in, instead of that crap setup, you have to care so much how and where they sit and if all lines up and is flat and and and french idiots!

Normally not a massive issue with the PRV .5 GTT and 21 tend to crack but usually caused by running too much boooooooost without any other mods

My issue atm is finding a good late 2.5 cross bolt liner .Only lump I have is BIGM lump that had been sitting out in a field ...'.drop of oil ,it turns over ,up-cycle city '

The engine guys are going to strip it all out and see what we are left with .Might get a couple of decent pots but failing that can make a new one-off for not bad money .
