Just some crazy-assed ramblings...

Postby bratboy_y2k » Fri Aug 10, 2012 6:18 pm

Hi there, I am new to the forum. I'm coming over from the Lotus world where us owners want something quirky, cheap and sporty all at the same time. Since I saw my first Alpine in British Columbia many many years ago I had an on and off interest in the cars but never found a lot of info on them, not to mention never seeing them again until venturing into Europe here and there. They are gorgeous.

I'm just curious about a few things about the cars. I would love to get an na GTA (for good reasons!. I see the rhd cars are far more affordable compared to what I see them selling for anywhere else. I was told by one company that they require a different bulkhead which makes the conversion sound undoable. Can anybody confirm this?

Also, anybody ever done the Safrane Biturbo engine swap? I might have just done a crappy job and doing the search but I thought this conversion would be a natural.

Thanks for having me in the forum, Im looking forward to getting to know you folks.

Welcome .

There are a couple of Bi boys on here
Tony Smith has installed a bi saf lump ...but with single turbo ( A61O lump in all but name ) and Ragnotti drift is installing a true Bi turbo setup as we speak .
Bulkhead conversion for what ? Not clear .RHD to LH or NA to Turbo ?

Can confirm RHD to LHD conversion not economically viable.

Not that natural

Unfortunately the Safrane is transverse engined so it's not as straight a swap as you think. Lots of bits to change over. And lots of plumbing and wiring to sort out. A610 lump would be a far better swap.
