I think a new rule would come in the mot test (modified vehicle FAIL)then you need a iva test or a biva test not sure which but it's not good news

I really can't see it making any odds. What's a standard GTA or 610 anyway?

Even when they left the factory they were sometimes an 89 car on 86 hubs or a Renault with a diamond badge or an Alpine with a recessed nose cone and flying A?

I really can't see your average MOT man knowing what's standard and what's not. "Yes it came with those wheels, factory option don't you know, so is the quad exhaust"

Remember you could get adaptive electronic dampers on a GTA so who's to know if Konis weren't used on the limited edition 'GTA a la Dell'.

I've been to Renault dealers who don't even know what it is and look at you with a blank look when you say it's a GTA

this would be a terrible thing to all petrolheads wether they like old or new cars not to mention all the poeple employed in the aftermarket car market one american company alone posted annual ternover of 5.1billion dollars for last year with profits over 120million dollars,cant see all those employees suddenly unemployed would look good on any goverment figures.
i understand politicians want to control everything we do but removing our right to chose what car we drive and what we do to our own property must be taking things a little to far. (big brother)
plus where do kit cars fit into this, started life as a ford sierra and now has a V8 fitted and the body of a cobra copy, thats one hell of a modification to standard.
i think aslong as the car passes an mot test to prove it is safe and within the law to be driven on the highway that should be all that is needed
guess we will just have to wait and see

Not exactly clear that's what they mean, but if it is then at least it'd be a more sensible approach.

I seriously doubt there are enough IVA stations to cope and until there are we have feck all to worry about .

Nothing to worry about...the package is focused on improving general roadworthiness standards standards rather than outlawing modifications.

It would not be feasible to re- type approve vehicles because only test houses can do it, the cost is huge and the legislation has only recently been recast.

Modified vehicles will be deemed to comply if they pass an MOT just as they do now.

Here in Kiwiland, if you modify your car (significant engine mods, brakes, suspension, etc.) you need to get the car 'certified'. Same goes for any major body repairs. That's all in addition to the 6 monthly warrant of fitness (WoF = MOT) for all cars over 6 years old (yearly for those). What passes a WoF may not pass certification, and passing certification does not guarantee getting a WoF....

Still doesn't stop the boyz chopping or even removing the springs & using drainpipes as exhausts
