how do you get in and out of a GTA?

Postby Danglydogs » Fri Aug 24, 2012 7:50 pm

Bit of a random Friday night post :D but I find this GTA low, I struggled to get back out of it earlier! I injured my back a good few years back and pain/agility comes and goes, but I've had BM coupes etc in the past and they've been easier to get in and out of than the GTA, to be fair I've been a bit of a contortonist working on it which has helped (my back) due to the stretching.

Anyway, does anyone else find them too low and awkward or is it just me

lol Clee

I tell you, I was nearly stuck earlier, it was a lot easier without the doors on - just looked like a milk float!

Lol Clee... well that's a sight I could get "treated" to each weekend given the club over the road from the unit - Candy Girl night delights... .. The other weekend I was trying to sort some cam timing issues, and they had the blimen windows open because it was hot outside and they don't have aircon in there (how do I know- now now, before anybody gets any ideas... I went over there to ask for some milk :-) ) ... Ms Whippy definitely was having a good time! Didn't help me count the degrees round I can tell you!

As to getting out - slide the seat back all the way each time?

:D :D. Yep I'm that sad I did!! Quite funny coz the fatties in the nurses outfits looked round and said who's that, and the chap who runs the club said, oh just the guy over the road wanting milk and laughed... There I'm stood wearing my tatty w/shop stuff and trousers with no zip tied up with some wire... They were probably thinking yeah right... Anyway, I got the milk, fresh and glad to say unopened :-) So walked back over and had a nice had a cuppa :-)

I have had to weld a few things up for them in the past, and wanted wire and rope last weekend ;p ... There I was thinking I've definitely got my priorities mixed up - working on a PRV at 1am, when the rest of the world is up to summit more interesting!

Wow you should try the V8 Esprit some time, the thing I love about the Alpine is that it's so easy to get in and out. I recently tried a fully restored Lotus Europa Twin Cam that I had in my younger days when I was probably a lot thinner and more agile and after a 20 minute test drive had to crawl out on my hands and knees, I thought I might even get stuck in it for days without being able to get out.

Candy Girl night delights... ..

Candy: Hi. I'm Candy.
Kurgan: Of course you are.

Sorry I think of it everytime I hear the 'name' Candy. Best Baddie ever.

Back on topic, yes it's a proper sports car and is properly low. I guess that's what makes it feel special, but slightly more tricky to get in and out of.
I'm just here for the gasoline.

Yes the Esprit that B1RMA has was a real bark to get in and out of for me (6ft 6 - 18 Stone not so small chap). But just try a Marcos Mantis, for me it's like playing twister and losing.

The Alpine is fine for me that's why I love it, sooo comfy 8)
