Hi to all

I am in the process of buying an R5 Turbo 2 and have already started thinking how I will develop the car over the next couple of years.

You will have seen the car for sale on Pisten Heads (the RHD blue car with sunroof in Ireland).

I am not completely new to 5's having owned 2 x R5 Gordini Turbos and a GT Turbo all in my younger years. Like many Renault / Alpine fans I have always loved the Turbo 1 & 2 and someday wanted to own one, well here I am.

I raced bikes for many years and finally hung up the leathers in 2005, at that point I bought a Porsche 968 Club Sport that started as a road car ( for Road, Track days and Ring trips) but I soon got bored. Starting with a half cage and KW v3 and finally ending up with as a fully blown race car costing £25k to build (not including the orgininal puirchase price). I have been running in several race series since 2009 enjoying a resaonable level of success.

The Porsche:





I decided that spending tons of money racing was no longer appropriate at my age so the Porsche has to go and in comes the Turbo 2.

The car needs quite alot of work to get it where I want it to be, but I am looking forward to it.

I am looking for some advice on the folloiwng and any recomendations as to who to speak to for the following:

1. Suspension / Chassis Upgrades
2. Wheels (who makes the wheels on the car pictured below)
3. Respected engine builders (not just in the UK)

the wheels are compomotive look on there site
put some coil overs to do away with torsion bar set up use bilsteins in my opinion.you could change wishbones to tour de corse or maxi but not worth money as so expensive.

I've always thought the Minilite (del-tech) Wheels look best on these.

Salv Sacco has a good reputation with these engines.

Where abouts (roughly) are you based?

I'm originally from woodford!

Quite a few of us southern softies meet once a month. Surrey quays during the winter (so El Presidente doesn't stay out late in the cold) and the ACE cafe in the summer (so I can keep to my bedtime )

The northern yokels meet up occasionally as well for their greyhound appreciation (or was it whippets... some form of dogging!)

Sounds good, I should have the car within the next 2 weeks and it would be good to meet up. I actually went to school in Woodford Bridge (small world).

Apart from owning the R5 Gordini Turbo's and the GT, I also worked for 5 years at Renault Ilford.

One of the techies there used to have an A310 that he used to sprint, his name is Richard Tomlinson, have you ever heard of him in the Apline circles ?

I think Richard had to scrap the car when the chassis rusted to bits.
I haven't heard anything of him for a long time. He was very close to some of the RCCC R8 Gordini guys. I'll ask when I see one of then next.

I've got a new set of coil overs (AVO) that I didn't get around to fitting on my car before I sold it. Was going to Ebay them soon. Let me know if you are interested.

Amazing, I went to Roding Lane Infants & Juniors, I was there from 1970 - 1975 roughly. (Be careful with the age comments )
