LOL that'd be one of the more sensible offers :D

I tell you, I've never had so many clowns when I've sold a car before, I've had e-mails asking if I'll MOT it in the price :roll: WTF its advertised as a PROJECT car, people are expecting it to be on the road and ready for use, I pity any alpine dealers if they try and do it for a living.

A classic example is that guy on here who was trying to sell his A610 (forgot his username) but he got given a rubber cheque and no contact again from the bloke and his car is straight so at least its not just me!

Must admit I genuinely am in two minds about finishing it, may try the engine/box and turbo on ebay, if I can get around a grand for that I'll break it. I can post all the other bits out then and not see anyone :lol: :lol:

Rich ,it needs MOT to sell at anything over 2k .
Box 300 ,engine ,leave it in and running/pressures/tested OK 400 .Turbo feck all .
Renaults are not loved or wanted I'm afraid .My 21 the same story .Loads of messers even at basement price .Finally shifted it to a RTOC CM for 650 :roll:

my only concern is will it sell with an MOT?

Whats the suspension etc worth, its got a near new renault windscreen in got to be worth a bit, i know the tailgate glasses are rare? its got a nice stainless exhaust and the cherry on the cake is the rear lights :)

If the Engine and box go (turbos near new as well looking at the receipts) I'll bust it.

I know bits like front bumper i'll need to hold onto till someone wants one but that can go up in garage loft so not a problem really.
I know the shell won't weigh in for much though :lol:

Parts are worth very little really .They are useful to the likes of me but no-one else ,even when they have need , will want to pay much .
I have a shed full of old shockers /springs etc .I keep an eye out for wishbones etc for service exchange jobs .

Just put MOT on it ....or bring it up here and we'll see what it needs :wink:I'll have space from Sat now the 21 is gone and a couple of others are due out this weekend ..

To be honest I had several people interested in the Grey car in the first few days, then nothing for 2 weeks then got a sale so they don't exactly fly off the shelf. Give it a little more time yet....

As for breaking that game has also been in decline. 5 years ago people were buying parts to stock pile for their beloved Alpine's. Not anymore, people are keeping an eye on cash flow so only buy parts if they are worn out/broken. Plus the breaking business is not all champagne and cigars, I don't think most people appreciate the time and effort which goes into removing the parts in the first place. Then the hours spent stuck in the queue at the post office. Plus the grief from the other half in having a wreck on the drive. Hardest game in the world breaking GTA's!

Wouldn't call myself a 'messer' :evil: I was a genuine buyer, took the time to visit and appraise honestly. As I said, with an MOT potential buyers will have more confidence - its not hard to MOT it, so I'm struggling with why you're umm/ahhing and preferring to scrap it :? There's so few of these about nowadays it's crazy.

Numbers are in decline and there are probably too many people out there with Alpine project cars of their own. Look at the numbers on SORN etc and that's the trend. Problem is if you've got a 'project car' that really hasn't seen a spanner in a long time, then do you want another one? Probably not.

Recession doesn't help either.

So get it MOT'd. You can still advertise as a project car, just a good one that's 98% there and is better suited to the masses. People don't like not MOT'd as they just don't know what's under the skin, plus it means they have to fork out for trailering etc.

just had a look around it this afternoon, I'm going to finish it, it don't need much, will clean up the chassis and protect that then do the little finishing jobs on the body and trim.

will then look at mot'ing it when i've cleaned the discs up and cleaned up the calipers mighrt turn it into a daily hack then seeing as I can't sell it,

wheres best places to ring for insurance?

I've used http://www.classiclineinsurance.co.uk/ for the last 4 years. Always the best quote by far, plus when it came to the crunch and I had to claim last year with the 610 incident they were very professional and paid out in full with no hassle whatsoever.

It's a bit of a post-code lottery so check a few, but make sure hagerty is one of them.
