Waterless Coolant

Watched wheeler dealers last night with the TR6 and liked the look of the waterless coolant that Edd China used. Less corrosion and much higher boiling point? Anyone here used it in a GTA? Only downside I could see was the price (but seems to never need changing) and the fact that the all the existing water has to be completely removed from the system before adding?

I watched this as well. Looks very interesting, I think you would have to flush the old coolant quite a few times though to get rid of that brown crud which most GTA's have.

I wonder does it Freeze and what's the Freezing Point of it is? YEAH!

I was going to try it in the white GTA but the price of the coolant and the cost of flushing put me off.

You would need 3 gallons of coolant and I believe the same amount or more of flush + another gallon for top ups.

So 3 x £50 + 4 x £40 + 1 x £50 = £320 as a minimum.

The DAZ bag washing bag thinks the MRS uses for washing our clothes work a treat for cleaning out the coolent system!! I have used them on many a rover with the K series engine. The heaters also smell nicer afterwords.

Is it worth using on a 21 year old coolant system that is full of rust anyway?

no .

The amount of shite around the liners + getting it flushed thoroughly .....If you did it to a newly built lump/pipes/rad and matrix then it might be worth doing

I have run a similar product called water wetter in my chargecooler system for many years. My thinking was that a few degrees in your water temp doesn't really make alot of difference but charge temp directly affects your bhp so knicking back a few degrees can be benefitial. Think I saw the figure was 0.7 bhp increase for each degree dropped but that could be wrong. Once down to about 40 C the increases stop. I'm sure Faulksy can correct this but there are small gains to be had and you don't need to flush drain the chargecooler on a regular basis and it uses much less than the water system so it doesn't work out too expensive.
