possy

I resemble that remark. And it's stupid possy to you if you don't mind as I still managed to get 6 points to nurse for a couple of years. The last three was for 81mph on a clear M40 in good weather :-(

I'm booked in to Silverstone for a track day in December and may take the GTA. After having the geo set up the car is much better but there is a lack of grip and predictability from the rear which I feel is the tyres. Currently it is on the 225/50 15's so I am looking at perhaps the Toyo 888's or Yokohama AO48's if I stay with the same size. Does anyone have experience of these tyres on a GTA? Also if I shell out for the 255/45 15's are they better being bigger on the GTA or not much different? Is the bigger tyre not do good on the same size rim?

Shame nobody onhere knows anything about tyres and wheels :-)

My new downrated springs arrived the day before yesterday so that evevning it was on with the rears and yeaterday I tackled the fronts. Both were wasy jobs. The replacements I had fitted by Clee with the new shocks were 500lb 8.5" rears and 400lb 8" fronts but for me on the road the ride was too harsh but probably better suited to track or a porky A610 :-)
the new compromise was uprated over standard at 400lb 10" rears (the 8.5" were adjusted within an inch of the top of the damper body so these are much better) and 300ld 9" fronts which I was a little concerned would be too long however have fitted fine. Been out a couple of times and for a short run and it's so much better now as the damping is able to do its job properly.
I found with the fronts I could change the springs without removing the shock absorber by detatching the ARB and the top trailing arm, allowing the suspension to drop and the shock to pull outwards for spring removal.

Many thanks to PaulyA610 for supplying all the dampers and springs without fuss.

Trevor, I fitted Toyo 888s to my GTA, which is now Cedric's car. The size I fitted were 235/45/15 and I found these to be very good. Cedric now uses the car for hill climbs and also Will uses Toyo 888s on his hill climb car.

I've had 255/45 r15's recently fitted, however I've driven less than 200 miles on them... so too early to share opinions just yet.

Thanks for the advice guys and I'm sure you are right but I have now ordered Khumo Ecsta 70a tyres in 225/50 15. The 888's were going to be my choice but my VX220 had these on for a while and whilst very good I felt they let go fairly sharply once that point was reached and moreover they aren't great in standing water. Given we are heading into winter I thought I would go fr a track tyre with a little more tread. I'll let you know how I get on at Silverstone.

Glad you are happy with the suspension Trevor, think I will be offering the different spring rates depending on the customers requirements. Have a look at the Yokohama A048 I found them very good on track!
