lm 500 and gt400 for sale

Postby del mar » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:45 pm

Gentlemen,

I am looking for some advice please. I am currently italian as opposed to french, but do appreciate the value of a rare and unusual car. I have a maserati ghibli cup, and have been looking for a detomas guara, but do like a venturi gt400.

Most of the info i have found has been from your forum so this must be the best place to ask. I had spoken to legends re the blue one but he wanted a lot for that. The rhd one appeared on pistonheads for a day then vanished, i am aware of its history - somebody wrote a letter to a classic car magazine saying it had been put in a ditch !

Which brings me to the lm500.
Yes it is swiss, but surely you could agree a deal where you pay them20,000 for the car and another 20,000 to collect you from the airport. It is not like a ferrari where the authorities can easily find a price ?

What would it need to put it on the road ?
Steering column / indicator stalks
Indicator lights
Windscreen washers
Fog light
Exhaust , as it is spitting flames i guess it wont pass emissions.
Tyres
Another seat
Windows
Heater
Removal of some roll cage just to get into it !
The engine appears to be running a safe 500bhp, but you could back the boost off a bit.

I guess a lot of the internal / trim parts are renault ?

The french garage selling the red €40000 one has 3 for sale including a stunning red one for €63000. This car appears to have been a track day car, so yes is probably a bit tired. I am ok with some cosmetic work worn bushes discs etc but engine / drivetrain issues are going to be pricey to fix.

If i was going to view them what should i be looking for, are there any problems or issues that i should be aware of ? I am sure i have read that the engine needs to come out for plugs !! Is there anybody in kent that could look after it ? What about spares both mechanical and body parts ?

Thank you for any help or advice you can offer.

I have heard back re the red french one.

€40000

"It has been maintained by their own mechanics", but noted that it is a little tired.

Dors it need anything, does it need a service ?

"It needs an engine........."

Sod me !

I have found somebody that could do the work to put the swiss one back on the road, just waiting for a reply.

No Venturi boys going to respond?

Lovely cars but way out of my league and knowledge, good luck with anything you go for.

There is a 400 Trophy that is just about rebuilt and will apparently be offered for sale soon in the UK. Bringing in the Swiss car will only be very pricey due to taxes.

The car coming soon seems to have had the rebuild work done correctly from what I have read on our (Venturi) Yahoo Group.

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/venturistes/

The owner is quoting 434 BHP but no price!

If you want contact details PM me and I will send his email to you.

The car is chassis number 007 and is blue and white. Below is a link to the post I put on this forum when Taz first got the car.

Forgot about TAZ, this has been having a lot of work done to it, good spec and nice colour combo. The one at legends Is way over priced but it is very local to me so if anyone was interested I can take a look for them. The 400 gt is an amazing car hope you find one. Del Boy can we have a Venturi section on the forum, could make you a few more ££££ for the coffers. :D

Surely Venturi owners should have their own site.......... Please read "Welcome to renaultalpine.co.uk" on the Home page........ can`t see how Venturi owners fit into the category...... also would they bother to become full members...... we already have many Alpine owners, many with over 100 postings who cannot be bothered to take full membership, which is disappointing to say the least.
Well that's my opinion FWIW. ............I await the flack.

Please read "Welcome to renaultalpine.co.uk" on the Home page

I actually changed that on the info handouts to include any interesting Renault & Renault Powered vehicles so guess I should update the homepage too...

Renault Classic usually have no problem with Venturis at events and I don't mind seeing them either. Think of them as a close cousin.

Hi John

Both PaulyA610 and myself are full members and Venturi owners if that helps to sway your opinion?

The more the merrier I say .
Perhaps those ' non members ' with a lot of posts have tried to become full members but are frustrated by the inordinate amount of effort required to do so

Anyway a Venturi owner has a lot more in common with Alpine owners than those with a clio V6 so whats the problem ........

Hi Paul,

Yes, I know that both you and PaulyA610 are both full members, that was not the point of my comment. If Venturi have their own club, then... if I had a Venturi, which I hasten to say are cracking cars... no dispute there, I would be a full member of that club hopefully being able to post comments and possibly help its other members. But for the life of me I cannot see why Venturi members should want to piggy back themselves on to a thriving club whose aim is to promote their own marque as its club name denotes namely Renault Alpines and other Renault sport cars ie:- Turbo`s 1 & 2,... and its sport Clio range etc. Where Venturi comes into the picture, I do not know.
I wonder if the Venturi Owners Club would be happy to accept a section of its forum devoted to Alpines.
The other point I was making was about it "could make a few more ££££ for the coffers". As there are many Alpine owners who have sometimes 100`s of posts, and gain valuable help and extend their knowledge of their Alpines and can`t be bothered to become full members, I just wonder if we would gain much from opening up our Club`s form to other makes of cars just because they use Renault engines.....also remember that (see home page)...."Renault and Alpine are trademarks of Renault S.A.S. or its subsidiaries and are used with the kind permission of Renault France". Noting that agreement, I have to wonder if Renault would be happy to also endorse a competitor marque to our forum.
Perhaps it is just me.... but I like our club as it is.... but I would like to see the more active members become full members, and if Venturi members wish to comment about their Venturi`s on this forum, I have no problem with that. but as for a special section.........

Competitor Marque, Renault approval :?:  Not the sort of enthusiast club I would be part of

There is no Venturi UK forum .Stunned tagged one on to his website I think but that has long since died .

i don't have a problem with a venturi section, they used to have a small web page but these days only a message board. one thing we need to understand is there are only a few of these cars in the uk. they use PRV engines and were manufactured by a small french company but here we are welcoming the manufacture of a new alpine between renault and caterham .one thing i have noticed over the last 6 months is how many old members have dissapeared from the forum and you must agree it has been a bit quiet recently. simon taylor, stunned monkey, :( yes we have gained a few new alpine owners so i guess what i am saying is , and this is true, nothing ever stays the same. we just have to make sure any changes are for the best.
