Not many new pics as bits are off being powder coated and I need to go and kick an asp :lol:
Car now at Marks for rot repairs and clean up of any bare/corroded bits .I'm on water spray duty inside whilst he wields the hot stick then I'll attack all the grotty bits with wire brush and waxoil .
Should be done by Monday as we'll be snowed in for the duration I expect :evil:

I suspect he's too tall to keep his head down but I'd try and put a blanket on it at least :lol: :lol:
We're gonna need a bigger boat .

Drivers sill was ripply and loose and here's why .Near side not too bad but we're chopping it anyway as it needs work near front and we might as well elongate the cut and treat the insides .Leading edges underway also .Doors off ,seats out and water spray at the ready .I shall be inside squirting .......

Ooh err.

I had no idea it was that bad :shock:

What's the cause of all these 610 sills going? Is it a water trap or just the fact that Renault never galvanised anything :roll:

Odd one this one ....It's as if it was filled with water inside between the outrigger humps iyswim .Forward and back from them it is not that bad but where the seat sits is rotten as anything .....

hey-ho ...not as bad a Rottbott's was as mainly concentrated here and the footwells ..

I can see your RATS days dwindling by the hour ...penance is required :lol: :wink:

OMG!!! that's bad...........Don't worry Rottbott this can be called RottBoxx :lol:

I don't know if it makes a difference, I am sure that all my metal on my 610 ( being a very early one ) is coated in a white protective layer, but I can see this is all black ( or is it trick photography or MVS protective treatment ) which seems to me nothing was applied to protect it.

I remember with the Renault 19 16V the early ones up to K reg, were a lot better protected against corrosion than the later ones L & M reg.

......... Just a thought.......

He really did buy the wrong one and I sold mine far too cheap!!!!!

Yep, I did tell you not to let it go too cheap. :lol:

Those bloody sills are a pain. Didn't think this car had any major issues though but the guy who sorted mine did say due to the design, every A610 that was designed like that would suffer at some point (every A610 in other words!)

And the degree of the problem is often well hidden so you just can't tell how bad it is. For those that haven't see mine before I had it done.....

He proper took the sills off :D

It's odd on this as it really is just between the outriggers drivers side .Like it'd had been soaked inside .Some glass evident + an odd plaque hidden under the trim with someones name on it ....

Never had a smashed window or any water ingress in my ownership. Makes sense though where it's all on the drivers side.

Was it Nigel Mansell's name on the plaque? :D

Williams I think .....will dig it out ..odd thing, with a pair of wrought Iron gate emblem .Really heavy ...certainly a lot stronger gauge than what it was sitting in :P

Simon Williams was the original owner of the car who then bought it back about 4 years ago, then sold it to me. Maybe it's his company logo or something.....

Well just to prove that Alpines and Venturi are cousins and share more DNA than the drive train etc. cop a look at these photos from when I had my sills repaired a few years back!! PaulyA610 look away now my friend!! :shock: :shock: :shock:
