Dumpvalve position

I thought Id bring this up, as when Ive seen many cars with the dumpvalves the wrong way round, it was just error or refittment or replacement, but Stephen has told me that in his technical update book, that alot of the first GTA's were fitted with the dumpvalve in the wrong orientation and didnt work properly, and so the update says to change it.

Basicaly if your dumpvalve looks like this then its wrong (yes, I know its a Europa Cup car, but its still wrong!) The dumpvalve should be mounted the other way round so the vacuum pipe comes out on the right of the engine bay, not towards the back of the car as in this pic..

I would've thought that was obvious, due to the direction of the airflow! How could Renno have got something like that wrong!?!? :oops:

As opposed to this position..... What is the idea of the by pass hose from the plenum to the inlet pipe... surely this would reduce boost.

Yes it would.....but further to that, whats the dumpvalve doing on the far bottom left of the pic?....must be connected to a larger intercooler.. :?

Its a German car from Zolder. I import those braces, but theyre not cheap...£150

When did I ever let money get in the way of my car???? I have plastic friends and overtime.....and debt!!! :lol: May have to have one closed season just to finish the engine bay off....may even have to make one for the front (think we've had the discussion about the front before and decided no one did one?)

Pete,

There's a company I found that did two at the front - upper connecting the turrets and lower bracing the lower wishbones. (Honda had the same on their Integra Type R)

Only issue was you'd need to remove the boot liner for the upper and both were made to special order. Well its a GTA after all!

Yep, there the same ones I do. Its about the same price for the front, but not only do you have to remove the boost liner, also the curved plastic bulkhead/seperator in the middle of the turrets (or chop holes in it)

I'll be up for that over the winter then...add it to the list (coilover kit, cams, ECU......in fact why dont I just put you down on the deeds to my house David?? :lol: :lol: )
