Oil Pipes Needed

Postby BIG_MVS » Tue Mar 05, 2013 8:45 pm

Hi All,

I have a weep from one of the flexi oil pipes. Had a look and they are very crusty. Asked Simon Auto and they are out, anyone know if Renault have any Steve, Red21? Or does anyone have a spare pair new or decent second hand? They are the same on the GTA 1989 onwards and A610. Items 7 and 19 are the order of the day, plus new rubber washers I guess.

Any help appreciated.

There's a place in Chinley that can make hydraulic hoses but maybe too far from where you live. It's a one man business and he works from home. I've had coolant hoses from him and had the clutch master to slave cylinder hose done in stainless braided hose. He might be able to copy your hoses. I would think you'd need to leave the original hoses with him as patterns.
If you want the contact details, let me know.

Told him all this already .They are always rusted up and stuck solid so they are a botch to get off .I'd start soaking them now and keep at it for a good while before any attempt to remove .You'll need the new pipes in anycase before you do .
Pirtec should be able to knock something up .I have sets from the 610s here that can be used to copy .
OR .....bin the remote oil filter set-up completely and revert to earlier setup OR make up a whole new system with a proper oil cooler matrix and re-loop the water circuit .

what is the advantage of the later setup? what does it actually do? is it cooling the oil?

They may not be able to help ,it depends on the fittings .I doubt anyone has ever had one made .It can be solved in other ways though .Mocal take off plate and pipes to suit .
It will nor be two bob and a conker though .How much is the Renault item then ?

Tracked down a pair from a 25T but I don't think they will fit without some mods to the remote filter assembly positioning ......Different length and end bends ....

It's a water to oil cooler isn't it? Must be there for a reason, car manufacturers don't add cost for nothing..but as Lee says alternatives must exist.
Must go and look at mine....

It's remote for the additional water pump plumbing I would think .There are a few options .I plumbed in a remote cooler and senders on JIL using Mocal bits/rubber pipework etc .
It will need looking at in a bit more detail .We are not going to just get a new pipe and swap ....the old ones will fight getting them off for a start .
