Shouldn't all the engine bits be in grey crinkle finish to be fully OEM..... :D

The slatted covers should be grey crinkle and flaking off due to crap/no primer on the Ali .
Wait till I polish the logo and then pass judgement :P :wink:

Personally I think if the OEM stuff was any good it'll have still been there :lol:

Grey is so "John Major"...he was there, but who can really remember him or any of his many many achievements :?: :lol: nothing but a vague recollection in one's memory ...carry on Clee as you were :wink:

Its great to see some cars with nice engine bays and suspension being put into race prep kind of standards; so many nice looking cars are let down by a complete lack of attention to the engine bay etc and look bloody awful.

The OEM finish is shocking

I could have gone crinkle grey and made it stick but I think this is better no ?

All hubs and running gear bushed and bearings ,new fixings ...only thing is where do you stop ? The anti-roll and steering stuff lets it down but hey ......

You've got to paint the drop links!

They look shocking compared to the rest.

yeh ..I know ...and then the ar bar and then the subframe ....and then the crossmember ...and then the steering rack ...35/hr ....then 30 ..then 25 ...then 20... then ,where the feck did that fella go to that used to do that there stuff :lol:

I agree the drop links now stick out like a sore thumb. Are these available new still? Or give em a rub down and lick of paint :wink:

Top tip Big fella ...once I have scraped all that shite you had blasted all over it .Seem to be missing the point here although it was slightly tongue in cheek .......
Ever tried to get the hangers off the front bar and re-install ? Any idea how much they cost ? How long did it take you ?

I was just looking at my drop links and ARB today. Wire brush and hammerite seems the way to go. Thes is still all shiny :)

...can't you get longer bolts (screw) to go through the nylocks, or is that what comes in the kit, seems an odd mix?

Hammerite v POR 15

Forget Hammerite I have found it to be rubbish when used previoulsy (smooth black) only one way to go if you dont want to do it again in year or two's time POR 15, it an epoxy resin based finish :wink:

Its expensive but is worth using I have wishbones painted and you can attack it with a wire brush and it wont touch it. JL Engineering put me on to it.

POR 15 is horrid to work with. The 15 comes from the number of years to takes to remove from skin! It is good but needs a top coat to be UV stable IIRC, for easdily accessible bits hammerite every 2 years is fine.
