Assume you do know what that song is about then Lee?

When I first started going to Japan some 18 years ago, I kept seeing these cars on the road, they look just like any old japanese saloon of the time, a bit pumped up mind and some said twin turbo on the back (think there was a NA version too iirc) I really did not know what it was about but they sounded sensational and did not say Toyota anywhere on them and even had a different badge on the front. Never once saw one in the UK then and since and a few years later they launched a new version which was basicly what became a Lexus coupe over here (or in the states at least) which kind of lost the plot of looking like an ordinary car with fantastic performance. Never see one at all in Japan anymore.
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

I really like the look and performance of these rice rickets but they all look like mini-cabs on the inside.

My mate Si's one of these gave me my love for turbos

2 in the UK, originally brought over by Nissan Motorsports Europe as parts cars supporting the three group A racers. Never used but kitted out mechanically in full 430hp (and then some) race spec. Utterly bonkers.

He still refuses to sell it to me

Yeah but it's not exactly a 'pretty car' is it?

Engineering excellence aside, I just can't hear Matt Monro crooning away On Days Like These in the background.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. There's a lot of fun to be had from a car that goes a heck of a lot faster than it looks.

Cars don't always have to look 'pretty ' In fact some shouldn't .

What's wrong with ruggedly handsome ?

Yep agree on that one :) I have to say the really old Skylines do look good... it must be an age thing, coz I'm even starting to like the old Datsun stuff... the naff just looks great now (well to me Lol).. the Z cars are a given , and oh boy I would like to be able to afford one of those.
... A diamond is only a piece of coal that did well under pressure... PRV afflicted, may be I need to squeeze harder!!!!

Looks like a Nissan Bluebird Coupe to me, I don't like it. Never been that keen on any japanese motors. I did have a Honda Prelude once though which I thought was a nice looking car.. 8)

Just thought you might like to see my son’s Japanese motorised roller skate....... looks like a an ordinary day to day shopping hatchback.... but always first away from the traffic lights.
Used for Sprints and Hill Climbs....... Oh!!! ....and going to the shops.

Spec:-
1998 Daihatsu Sirion X4 (in Japan known as "Storia")
713cc 4 Cylinder Turbocharged Engine
Close ratio 5 Speed gearbox 4WD, with plate LSD's Front and Rear
Homogenization Rally Special hand built by DRS (Daihatsu Racing Services)
Factory fitted adjustable actuator on turbo giving 18 to 24 PSI boost (120-140bhp)
0-60 approx 6.6 seconds.

Believe it or not.... we understand there were only two brought into the UK, and the other is owned by a GTA owner who appears on this forum once in a while.

Well I guess there's something in the looks

I'd have to paint it like my little Tamiya Celica GRB to complete the look though.

Which reminds me, I must go on ebay and buy a set of billet aluminium wishbones for it to get it back up and running. Plastic fatigue of your childhood toys really is annoying.

I got a Z32 for not much, runs great, everything works! It's a really nice car. The steering feels like a kart.

Got a gen 7 Celica also, it's ok for a 'boring' car.
