Why not stick to the original venue. It's probably thawed out by now

The place I went to see that Sunday was old sarum airfield, just north of Salisbury

http://www.oldsarumairfield.co.uk/site/

Spyderman1 took me there and introduced me to the owner (who also has numerous r15 in need of restoration).

Over the winter they do a classic cars and planes event on the first Sunday of the month but that's finished now. The owner is quite happy to have us any weekend if we want to organise a alpine meeting (if they haven't got anything else on that day obviously).

This is a lovely little airfield, they serve food pretty much all day if I remember well, no need to book tables just turn up

They also have a plane museum where they have various planes from boscombe down and cockpits in which you can sit

Looks like a friendly place, and could be good fun on a nice sunny day

Anyway this is just an idea, if the interested people prefer to go to the pub in the new forest I'm happy to organise either

Please let me know preferred dates, May? June? and venue and I'll do the rest

Is there a boundary / service road around the perimeter :?:

Sorry first thing that pops into my head when an airfield is mentioned

Old Sarum is indeed lovely, I live literally 2 miles from it and often pop down of a Sunday morning for a bacon butty and watch the planes/skydivers. There's no boundary road I'm afraid, but plenty of good roads in the area for a blast (A30 Shaftesbury to Stockbridge).

Personally I'd prefer the New Forest as it'd actually be a drive out for me (car wouldn't even be warm before I got to Old Sarum), but I'm happy to go to Old Sarum if there's enough interest.

Dates...?
  1. May 6 Bank Holiday - too short notice?
  2. May 18 or 19
  3. May 25 or 26 or 27 Bank Holiday
  4. June 15 or 16
  5. June 29 or 30

To soon? Simply French | 12 May at Beaulieu i went last year and it was good, many French makes i had not seen before. Its just a £10 and you get all the Beaulieu stuff plus a cavalcade and display on the Main Arena of 20 cars chosen from all rally entrants - one of these selected cars will be the winner of the People's Choice Award. The competition is open to all owners of French cars taking part in the rally and will take place at approximately 2.45 on the day of the event.

You can just turn up on the day from 9:30am

Just a thought

Unfortunately I am busy (Supercar Day at Cliveden) on that date so can't do but I am happy to travel to a meet another time, dates permitting. Thanks for trying to organise something though.

Trevor.

Wouldn't have thought it's that hard... instead of "happy to go whenever - except if I'm busy" how's about we each submit some dates for when we are available then it'll be easier to pick a date.

To help... I've put up a Poll http://www.renaultalpineownersclub.com/ ... php?t=6486

I've cast my vote.
Compton Abbas is good location - though can get quite busy on a sunny day.

Probably go to the Beaulieu event anyway - weather & wife permitting.
