Atmo carburettor help required

Postby Will » Tue Jul 23, 2013 10:23 pm

A friend of mine owns a garage, a customer has come in with an atmo, i only have little detail, not seen the car yet but its been off the road for a while but apparently pretty mint, 29,000 miles!

Anyway has a problem with the carburettor, anyone know anything about them, are they available? Who do we recommend to rebuilt etc?

Obviously I'd like to help the guy so any info greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Will

Buy a rebuild kit and follow the very comprehensive set up instructions in the workshop manual MR273 to the letter and you should be OK.

.
Think you will need to know a few more specifics about any problems to get guidance, but should be plenty of experience on here. I have a spare carb setup up at Lee's, a few bits have been used off it to solve a choke issue Lee had I think with somebodies car a few moons back, but the rest is there - manifold and both carbs, and were in good nick.. Think you can still get the rebuild kits.

I dismantled the carbs on my car, which was not difficult, so the garage should also be able to do. I found a local place to have all the parts ultrasonically cleaned because the carbs had not been in use for years and I had this done mainly as a clean up experiment.
Re-assembly was straightforward following the procedure in the Alpine manual. I used the GTA details on this website together with the A310 MDR that I have.
I used Simon Auto kit 031021 which had most of the parts needed. From memory it didn't have one of the diaphragms but I was able to reuse the old one that was in good condition. Meca Parts and GBS also do kits.
I haven't run the engine yet so don't know if there are any problems waiting to be revealed so can't offer anything in the way of problem diagnosis at the moment.
