Another thing that could eventually create a problem is the heat shield by the distrubutor, which on many A610's seem to go missing. The CAT sits right underneath and there must be a reason why Alpine went through the trouble to make one.

Also I am glad you are bringing it back to it's original colour, this is a special A610, car number 2......

120 quid for an official replacement (the time I asked) and they fall apart when you remove them.
I agree they should be fitted, Renault wouldnt have spent the money unless they wee needed but to add to the conflicting information, mine has run fine for a few years since the old one fell apart. Many have single layer aluminium replacements not the kosher double skin and fibreglass originals. I don't know if that makes a difference either.

My money is still on a common cause .Though some start up immediately after a conk , some do not ......
Dizzy guard maybe .Didn't one explode just recently at a most inopportune time :lol:

Thanks guys, great to see some new areas to investigate. It will likely be some time before I can report progress as it ran perfectly for well over 100 miles a week ago. It's annoyingly intermittent to add to the difficulty in tracing.

Quickie thought to check / eliminate the ecu temperature question, get some of these stickers or similar - temperature labels, need 2 ranges to cover the possible value reached with resolution, and stick on the top of the ecu case. They record the highest temperature reached as simple visual indication; just check the number before a journey out, and check again on a cut-out and see if it has changed from previous.

A610 cutting out issues

My cutting out issue has been sorted, ( am I tempting fate here?). Injector overhaul helped but didn't cure it long term; my ECU has been spaced off the bulkhead, the crank sensor has been replaced. But what seems to have done the trick is changing the fuel injector relay and replacing the earth wiring to the ECU and relay circuit. Hope that helps

Thanks again for the tips. On another subject, does anyone know where I might be able to get a 610 glove box? It's strangely missing on mine.
