Evening everyone,

I've been a long time lurker on these forums but never actually registered. I bought a 25 V6 Turbo around 6 months ago and its a fantastic car, but its developed a fault where by it will just cut out for no reason after its been driven for about an hour.

If you then leave it for an hour or so it will start and drive no problem.

Its had a new dizzy and rotor arm, and i'm hoping that replacing the coolant ECU sensor with one I bought from simon auto will solve the problem

Maybe the ecu itself if getting hot, perhaps some better air flow to it will help.

Secondly, you will get much better help when you are a member and declare your location.

I would advise joining the club, as you will get more info out of members. Also would be good to put up some pics of her as the 25t is a rare beast!

Thanks for the welcome guys, the ECU on the 25 I beleive gets good air flow compared to the GTA, because its mounted on the passenger wing and there is an air duct nearby that directs air towards the airbox.

Hopefully when I change the sensor my problems will be solved, the car has been tested on two different ECU's in the past by the previous owner who also had this issues now and then, he hardly drove it, and to be honest the car is a bit of a dog, i'm slowly getting it back into minty shape!

Hi Prab .

Check the fuel pump and injector relays .I'd replace them as a matter of course and with a slightly bigger rating .
RATS' ecu upgrade will work om 25t as exactly the same lump and ECU :wink:

Do they have a lifter pump? I owuld check the wiring to that first...........
Lifter pump wiring taught me that the more difficult expensive jobs were a waste of time, a few minutes work on some exposed wires by clee and robert was my mothers brother.

TDC sensor or coil pack are other obvious causes.

Failing TDC sensor will mean no spark - easy to check.

Failing coil pack can still spark but might be much reduced.

Both are heat related so would fit with the cutting out after an hour scenario. I doubt it's the coolant sensor as the ECU will see it as a fault but just opt for failsafe settings ie it'll run rich.

Ahh shit, well thats £60 wasted on a sensor then!, i'll change the coilpack anyway how much are they?

No harm in changing it, but I doubt that sensor is at fault, could be, but I doubt it. If it was I'd expect it might stall but equally you should be able to get it started again.

I should add that both should be easy to get through your local motor factors.... quite often worth doing as if it's the wrong part that turns up then it's easy to take it back.

TDC is a pig to change on a GTA Turbo. Not sure what it'd be like on the 25.

Coil pack is easy to swap out. 4 main bolts and the usual scuffed fingers :lol:

That reminds me, I need to get a new set of ignition leads.

So the 3.0 a610 coil pack is the same as the 2.5? If so will order that and the tdc soon, car should be running a treat soon.

Going to have to shift my 2.0 txi as I'm going to pick up a 19 chamade soon and possibly a 2.9 baccarat 25

I'm sure someone can comment but I believe they're pretty generic. Double check though.

I just changed the 'core' as it were. The whole coilpack comes in two parts that split. Core section is much cheaper than the whole thing.
