Thanks......always had a soft spot for the XM but it will be a petrol monster!!!! Part of the finance bill is going to be offset by fuel savings.....the Omega returned 24mpg and I dont suppose the XM will be better.

The price of the 'future ultra high performance' motor and the car it comes in could be soooo cheap that it'll make up for the MPG....

Yes PRV engine, 12 valve 170 BHP.

But then theres the reliability issue.......having spent nearly £700 keeping the Omega going in the last year the thought of only an oil and filter for 2 years is divine!!!!!

Sorry just read second page. The XM averages 22mpg locally which is mainly town driving but is better at 29ish on a long run. Not one for top economy that has to be a diesel version :?
Luxury and comfort with good performance but juicy.

Plumped for the Avensis in the end. The new shape Primera apparently has too many unreliable gadgets and I couldnt find the right Honda locally. Will have a lovely :? 2 litre VVTi in a weeks time.......yes its dull but it will probably still be running when petrol finally runs out!!!!

Indeed it will, when I stated mine had covered 227k (miles) with most of the original hardware, A.N.Other poster assumed it was a diesel, wrong, it's a 2000cc twin-cam petrol. If you are not adverse to Japanese, you cannot go wrong.
