I think it depends on how much you have replaced and what condition the system is in.

I find on mine that it just about blows cold enough for the first 30 or 40 mins and then can't seem to cope in hot weather. The fan seems a bit poor. The whole evaporator/fan assembly is the usual LHD to RHD conversion bodge. Having said that I think the cable that adjusts the airflow is stuck in one position so haven't had the chance to explore the alternative positions fully to see if flow improves.

Mine has a full R134a conversion with new fill points and new Sanden OEM type compressor (but for R134).

However on Dave Miles car the hybrid system works really well with a new compressor on the 3 litre engine and the old fashioned GTA evaporator.

Blower seems quite poor and it is the full OE system on a 134,snake oil , conversion .Although my man has installed this on a lot of Yank motors and says it works very well .
I will use this on ELY and report back .

As Stephen says, I think it is just an inherently poorly designed ventilation system which was pretty useless from new rather than the A/C specifically. My blower motor works fine but when it is fully on and making lots of noise, the flow of air must be going somewhere but doesn't appear to be coming out of any of the vents!! To be honest, the fact that it gets hot in the Summer isn't even the biggest pain, it is the fact that it can't clear the windscreen when it fogs up inside when it's raining. Maybe it's just my car but it's damn right dangerous and the biggest reason why I hate using it in the Winter. One of these days, we will have to look at the system and see if it can't be redesigned to actually work.

Sadly I had a look into this a couple of years ago...If you are running on 134 you have just reduced efficiency by 10% or so over the original gas! no idea how the drop in gas compares. Mine runs isceon 64 drop in gas and it's ok the first year after a Regas, then after that it becomes progressively less effective, whilst still working a bit. The high side pressures are a bit high on isceon 64? Gas, it seemed better on rs 24 but I couldn't find anyone who had it last time I needed it done.
The compressor differences are only sealing, it's the same physical capacity.
To get a 134 system, or probably a drop in gas workin at full capacity a Larger condenser is needed and then you should get quite a good system, like Daves I guess (anyone know what condenser he has) but I guess we all need to remember that is early European ac and wasn't that high a spec.
The actual ventilation system is pretty hopeless, but the vent flaps seem fragile so most don't fully turn off or on. Mine has had a replacement fan motor and this has created a back flow around the fan that I have been meaning to plug up....
A good opportunity for a kit to replace the condenser when fitting a replacement or upgraded radiator. I am told this isn't that hard....and ideally ALL the pipes need changing as the early R12 pipes leak the later gases as they are smaller molecules and can get through even a good pipe.

This was one of my pet hates of the A610 the blower is a poor design and is like an asthmatic blowing through a straw!!! The Venturi does have a much better design and decent blowers thank god.

Aircon working well?
Don't know about that, fan has not worked since it's holiday.
Once that is blowing, I will be able to join this discussion fully.
Plus need to get ANOTHER pipe replaced and re gassed.
Yes as Stephen says I have a hybrid solution due to lack of space, PPP, which has entailed a smaller pump and new piping throughout. Not the desired solution, stay original.
