Be very careful of import taxes as it's not an EEC car.

Yes rules have changed very recently.

Perhaps part of the reason for the sale.

if it hasn't been registered in uk or the vat paid..... there will be tax to pay on it probably..... vat was only about 6.5% in CH when he bought it..... so there will be a nice wedge to pay on the price that he paid for it when it left switzerland wherever it ends up being registered  hopefully he has all the paperwork for it bills of sale etc....

I've known guys buying cars from swiss and importing to France and getting stung for tax on entry,

same with a guy I transported a clio cup race car from Uk to swiss border, he then had to pay tax on it on entry into the country or at least do the paperwork at the customs at the border

Would you still have to pay taxes if it was broken for spares and

Just asking like? It's been a while since this has been used...

Under the NOVA scheme (July 2013) you have 14 days to notify HM customs from the first import date which is noted at entry, so this car should have the Vat already paid especialy after 4 years.

So how about a historic racer?

by rights yes....
but no.... because it hasn't been registered with DVLA they won't know that you bought it..... you'd be able to sell the id on after the parts but if it surfaces by being registered and questions are asked down the line of ownership.... who knows....

£3758 a steal IMO

I gave away a like brand new black leather interior a couple of months ago from the wheeler dealer car. Would have been perfect for this.
